Hi people, im Danny and I own a 96spec ITR, im from Nottingham.
I have known about this site for a while but I haven't signed up.
I have owned my car for around a year now, and its pretty much standard. It has been very well maintained and only done around 5k miles each year since its been in the UK, imported in 2008.
I gave it a thorough service around a month ago, also got a Tegiwa DeCat on it, it has an exhaust on it which I have no idea what it is and the number on it doesn't link to any manufacturer. Also lowered on Apex springs, which are comfortable, but I can not fairly rate them yet as I need a new damper on the front.
Earlier this year it required a new clutch and drive shaft which I replaced immediately, at the same time I decided to fit some fresh engine mounts. Last month, the rear caliper seized resulting in the brake pads lasting around 2 weeks and plenty of iron particles stuck to the rear quarter and rear bumper of the car. A brand new caliper was ordered to sort this out.
Finally this week I ordered some Wolfs DeIroniser, Wolfs Aggressive Clay Bar and a CleanYourCar drying towel to complete my basic kit list with what I already had. After using the products on the sides of the car I just have the rear, roof and front of the car to do to match the much cleaner paintwork of the sides.
The first annual big clean of the car was planned for this week for when the SW98 16" Sprints arrived. This has improved the appearance of the car over the existing decayed Evo 2 or 3 Standard Oz 15" wheels which were currently on it.
Plans for the car are to basically maintain it and keep it in an OEM+ form. If parts deteriorate then I will replace with uprated parts provided it doesn't diminish the OEM appearance of the car. The car requires a new nearside front damper, so im going to just get the Koni Yellow complete kit. Also a few bushes so they will be replaced with polybushes or equivalents. To get the car up to scratch it will need the bonnet and front splitter respraying and a small scuff on the nearside wing mirror. Im thinking of getting a 98spec rear bumper rather than respraying the 96spec I currently have or get an azect rear lip for my 96 spec. Also larger brakes and a smaller alternative exhaust. Interior wise, just clean it up, re-bolster the drivers side Recaro and get a more sleek head unit.
A few pics of the car, dont forget its halfway through claying, only the sides are complete. when its nicer weather I will get some better pictures. The first one, is a before pic with a set of one of my old wheel sets along with my mates JDM EP3.
