gonna be doing a b18 swap next couple of weeks...isit worth removing the abs while the engine is out..if so what is needed todo and isit ok come mot time ? thanks

You'll need a non ABS prop valve from a US EK, you'll need to make up new lines to the front brakes and to the MC, however the rear brakes. You'll also need new brake fittings. Basically you remove the ABS pump all the lines and make up new ones which go direct to the brakes and MC instead of doing through the ABS unit. Hardest thing is the bending of the brake hoses.

Regarding MOTs, i'm not too sure how legal it is, but you'll need to remove the ABS ECU (which is under the dash on the drivers side with a large orange plug doing into it) at minimum otherwise your handbrake light will be on permanently.

If you need more info just search on google "Stevenek9 ABS removal" as Steven has done a rough guide on a few past threads.

If you have rear ABS sensors I would be interested in purchasing these. I need the rear disc brake sensor. Thanks. Pm me if interested.

Removing ABS of a car that has it as standard is now an MOT failure. Although if the tester can not be sure if it was fitted as standard then benefit if the doubt goes to the owner.

Why do you want to remove it?

He probably wants to go lighter. A whole 6 pounds. Good luck. Also ensure you grab a hatchback prop valve or a USDM prop valve. If you are lucky you could track down a whole setup from a non abs car. Easy done just need time.
