Currently I am using my EK9 as a daily. However I have now got my eye on a daily car that I want to purchase.

My EK9 is currently insured until the 15 April 2013, which is when I get 3 years NCB.

If I get a daily I would have to take out a new policy based on 2 years NCB as it currently stands.

I would usually wait until I get 3 years NCB but the car I am looking could be gone by then.

Currently I am insured with Elephant.

Would like some opinions on what you would do / have done?

Are you keeping your 9 insured as well? You could just buy the new car and keep it off the road until April?

Well in that case it doesn't matter does it? Normally your no claim bonus can only be used on one car, although there are a few insurance companies that will mirror it on another policy. So if you are keeping the 9 insured you will be starting with 0 years no claim bonus on your car anyway. I know it is ridiculous and completely against all logic but that's the way it is sadly!

Hi Mate

We can offer an NCB mirrored policy meaning we can mirror the discount that you have on your main policy onto the 2nd car.

It would probably be better for you to switch your existing policy from the EK9 to the new car and then you could re-insure the EK9 on a bonus mirrored policy as you will also get the EK9 forum discount on that policy to help keep the costs down.

As you will have another car for daily use if you could cover less than 7500 miles in the EK9 it will qualify for a reduced mileage discount which can produce some very competitive prices.

If you wanted to drop me a PM with your contact number id be happy to contact you and run a quick quote through and explain the options available.

Best Regards

Unless you have a separate set of NCB you can use, your 2 years NCB is currently tied up. For the purpose of obtaining quoations, you need to state you have 0 NCB free to use unless you can find an insurer who can 'mirror' your NCB over to the second vehicle. Many people get burnt as it does not seem to be common knowledge that you can only use your NCB on one policy at a time.

At Sky Insurance, we can look at a mirrored NCB policy for you.

Feel free to get in touch, you can call us on tel: 03303 331250 or PM over your contact details if you'd like a call back.
