Hello people, looking for some advice really, here is the shortened story.

Last Friday I parked up at Sainsbury's petrol station in their car park, poped to the cash machine, on my return an old dear was looking @ my back bumper. Basically she had backed her Zafira into my car backing out of her space, resulting in my back bumper being scuffed / cracked, also, on her making contact with my car, it has pushed mine forward into the caging around the extractor fans on the side of the building damaging my front bumper as well. As soon as I got home I had the bumper off to check if there is any damage to the chassis, after 30 mins of inspection, no sign what so ever thank god

We exchange details etc ... her insurance call me to say she admits her fault & have arranged a structural engineer to see my car which is tomorrow. I can see where this is going to go ... my car is a 2000 EK9 which at the time, I'd had for 11 days!!! This engineer is going to price this at about eg. £500 & view it as a 'write off' ... where do I stand with this as we all know here this isn't the case.

I am going to ask for work to be done at a Honda garage & no where else. Ideally I want new bumpers, I dont want them bodging up, especially the back as it is cracked!

Cheers :nice:

If there is no damage to the chassis and only to the bumpers I don't think they will write it off.

Did you take any pictures of it?

Mate, they shouldnt class your car as a write off.. If they do then buy it back off them and repair everything with the payout you get (Shouldn't be alot), a complete bumper (Bumper, lip, grill, bumper bar) should set you back around £550-600 in C/w

If you go through Honda make sure you have the correct Part No. - They arn't exhanging anything anymore if it doesn't fit.

Know the part numbers by any chance mate? I'll have a look on that thread with all the part numbers when I get home if not.

I'll get them for you tomorrow mate (as I've just ordered mine). :secret:

Got work in 20 mins, not enough time really - Dreaded Night shift......

Ok so the engineer has been out to me this morning. Asked me to get quotes for:

> A new rear bumper minus the lip as that's not damaged - fair enough.

> Price for repair work for the front.

Back Bumper colour matched: 71501503J00ZG

£203.73 + VAT
+ £25.00 postage

Just need to wait for the body shop to get back to me now about the front.

The engineer checked my tire pressure? How come?

had my ek9 3 weeks before it was crashed and the roof removed insurance paid out full purchase price of 7600 and i bought the car back for 440 quid which they then reduced because the engineer didnt price for the modifications that were decleared.

Back off hoilday, these things DRAG OUT!

Long story short, received a nice cheque off the silly bints insurance company of £807.12 today. Car is booked in Tuesday :nice:
