Was driving home from work, and just slowed down to pull in my drive way, put it in second gear and crawled in to the driveway then it felt like the car was away to stall. It then cut out, tried to restart it then it started up then cut out again. Now its turning over but just not starting? Only had the EK9 a few weeks and its pissing me off big time!!

Thanks

definitely something a miss with your electrics. have you looked in at the ecu and the loom to see what state its in?

the ecu is in at the passangers footwell to the left, remove the plastic and take a look at the ecu and loom comming from it. Its not uncommon for these wires to be spliced and bodged to accept different ecu's and conversion harnesses. Would also be worth checking the fuses in the engine bay and the fuse board up above the drivers pedals under the dash...

Thanks mate, will go do this now. I just had a new clutch fitted and new timing belt etc done at the same time. Problem after problem mate.

Will have a look and get back to you. Just look out for burnt wires and burnt fuses? Will get pics soon.

I guess check its firing, pop out the spark plugs and check the condition of them? any melted wires or anything in the engine bay?

Will try that in the day light tomorrow. Cant see any wires melted. The car is awesome its just this wee problem, I think it might have something to do with the immobiliser stoping the fuel getting to the engine? Surely if the sparks were gone it wouldnt of cut out whilst I was driving?

I know its a pain in the arse just now mate but just wait until you get it running to its full capacity! :drive:

I dont know about the immobiliser though mate, as it generally stops the car from starting rather than cutting out when its goin. My idea would be electric somewhere as the car is goin then cutting out :(

Keep us posted dude!

:nice:

I was driving then it felt like I stalled the car, started it again then it cut out but now it doesnt want to start at all. Just turns over but doesnt start up. Will check my sparks and fuses/cables tomorrow. Will take a photo of something else I found just sitting behind my dash not connected to anything..

Cheers man.

When you turn on the key can you hear fuel pump prime? It could be just faulty main relay, listen for a clicking sound down near ecu when you turn on key and after a few second you should hear a second click if not then your main relay isn't functioning

I found this tangled up in a mess behind the dashboard not connected to anything? What is it and could this be a problem?

hmm no idea really on that but it kindof looks like a fob receiver for a immobiliser. Is there a alarm on the car?

Yeh a clifford alarm that has a fob thing but it doesnt seem to be working, no led on the alarm anyway. Dont know how to check that either.

Was looking at your other thread about your battery. Sometimes the battery going dead and jumping it or charging it wrong can mess up the electrics! Just something else to think about but probably has nothing to do with it if it was driving fine since.

hmm...Check to see if relay is working when you turn on key and go from there

check all your fuses, and actually pull them out and look.

Dose the engine just suddenly cut out or do the revs slowly drop until there on 0? If they slowly drop you mite want to check the injector tips, they could be damaged and this could cause the engine cutting out.

Cars at the garage now and should hear tomorrow whats wrong with it, will keep you guys posted. Hopefully nothing serious!
