Hi all!

I have owned my ek9 for about 8 months now and have been loving every moment of it...

But basically I'm looking to get a bit more power from my b16b without with goin down the b18 turbo con route.

I currently have an arc induction kit, buddy club spec 2 exhaust system de-cat and that's it. Just looking for any help on what direction to head in to get a few more gains and if it's worth it or wether I should just save for the turb's con.

Cheers

Depends how much power you want.

If you want to keep it n/a and not lots of power then I'd change the air intake as arc is more a showpiece than anything else, decent manifold then maybe a map or cams and a remap.

Then I'd focus on gearbox either a gearset of shorter final drive :)

I'm in the same boat, too many B18'd, K'd & turbo'd EK9s around so I'm also going to stay with B16B. The problem is that nobody makes off the shelf forged pistons or rods to fit the bottom end which leaves us with two options - limit top end mods to what the bottom end can cope with (in terms of revs and also piston to valve clearance) or going with custom bottom end parts - which is not cheap. Head work and remap is where it is, but you'll need at least £1500 for parts (assuming you're buying new) to do it properly plus remap on top. You'll need cams, cam wheels, springs & retainers, injectors at the very least, ideally also new high comp valves, since it is all out it'd be a shame not to change valve stem seals, maybe guides if necessary, LMA's.... It adds up rather quickly! You can have your head ported although I'd be wary about that as it is easy to get it wrong so make sure that whoever does it knows what they're doing. The biggest problem is that gains will always be relatively small from such a highly strung engine as B16B, if I ever go ahead and do it it won't be for the power but more just for the hell of it and so that I can have a motor that actually makes sense to rev to 9k or beyond. When you add it all up you're looking at spending north of £2k for what - 15, 20, 25 hp? I guess that's why very few people bother, it doesn't make much sense from financial point of view.
