anyone use Motul 8100 5w40 X-cess Fully Synthetic Oil

Using this Oil and done me fine ! But im using it in a B18c4 i think type R engines should be run with a ?-30 viscocity. Like 5-30 0-30 etc

Tried this oil now, but was dissapointed from my previous oil, which was Castrol Edge Sport 0w-40. When i filled Motul 8100 x-cess 5w-40 I instantly noticed reduced acceleration, like there was more friction in the motor compared to castrol. It was obviously also more noise from the motor. The car also use a tad more gasoline with the motul oil compared to castrol and the temperature gauge really increased from lets say "7.55" to "8,50" oclock - a several degrees increas in engine temperature. So, I would say this is not a true performance oil, there are for sure better oils around.

Not to mention this is a 5w oil which usually means more wear during startups compared to 0w, specially if driven hard and/or in colder climate until engine is warm. Though reduced viscosity range also is said to make it more shear stable and more rigid, but this is today more related to the quality of the oil itself,

Unless you're trying to flee from some imminent danger like a monster truck chasing you (or at least a H1 Hummer) or you've got some intense emergency like you're bleeding to death or your wife is about to give birth.... I don't see why any sensible enthusiast would rush into vtec until the car is fully warmed up.

I have been using Castrol Edge 0w30 since January and it is fine with my EK9. I have not even had to top it up since then either. :)

sorry for the bump, but anyone else use this oil for their honda's?

I use it on my ITR mate, plus sold it to alot of other ek9, ITR and EP3 owners and everyone is very happy with it.

:nice:Yes I've been using it in Jaguars for the past 5 years (I'm a mechanic). I love Motul and we use 5w40 x-cess on some Jaguars that require that viscosity. I buy it online for changing the oil in my car (my boss is a cheap-a**). www.cheapoilstore.com They sell a bunch of Motul stuff..
Motul X-cess 5W40 Engine Oil is the product u r talking about

Im using it in my ek9 maybe its jus my car but it does need to b topped up too often
