Asking the experts

Hi all,

I currently own an mk3 Ibiza turbo that I am selling to buy a Honda. I have narrowed my choices down to an integra type r DC2 or a Civic EK9 type r.

Just wondered what peoples views were on the differences between the two and what peoples would get if they had the choice to make (and why?). :nice:

I know that this is a civic website but there are loads of people who appreciate both the civic and integra type r so i thought it would be acceptable to ask the question.

Having driven both, in summary, the Teg has more guts up-top (speed wise) but handles superbly. while the EK9 is almost as fast but is alot more nimble and responsive than the teg
 
oooo tough call man both superb rides personaly would go ek myself for loads of reasons but at the end of the day comes down to individual taste and that. If it comes to it just toss a coin lol :D
 
I looked at both before I got my EK9, to be honest just prefered the way the EK drove, and they seem a bit rarer than the integra.:)
 
this is a hard one. i luv them both would say the ek9 has the edge on looks just. but the integra has got more guts like said and they are cheaper im away to get one once im finished with my ek4. plus the noise they make is awsume lol
 
drive both and you'll know :)
i got an ek9 in the end as i prefer the drive... and i think they look better
 
dc2 = more power
ek9 = less power but handles better

ask blinx9900 said, it all depends which look you like the most.
 
Perhaps the biggest dilemma of the 20th century........
 
i agree

DC2 feels a bit unstable but agile, tail happy i guess.

EK9 feels more stable, and corners more confidently.
 
Like someone said, its all down to taste, i just like the 9 better beause there are far fewer on the road than the 5!
 
My opinion is EK9 handle better but the ITR has a slight amount of more power (not by alot),

Also i feel the EK9 looks more aggressive and mean.

Its all down to personal taste though,:)
 
Cheers for all your comments. Sounds like many of you have had to make this choice already lol! I would like a DC5 really but they are a tad out of my price range.

I am going to drive both on saturday, they are fresh imports so I will hve first refusal on both a DC2 and an EK9 so I guess I will know once i've had a go in each of them.

I will let you know which i get and get some pics up as soon as.

By the way, has anyone ever bought a car from torque imports in buckfastleigh in Devon. This is where I am looking at my cars and just wondered if anyone had good (or bad) experience with them?

Thing is . . . .

Altho the dc2 has more guts top end, it still would have a hard time against things with big power down the motorway. And it would struggle against the EK on smaller windy roads because the handling isnt as good.

Whereas with the ek, afew mods along with the handling it already has and you can give a few things a scare on the country roads. Its a B-Road car methinks, but mayb thats coz I live in a country which is 90% hills and fields. Plus the ek9 has it on style in my opinion and rarer.

End of the day tho . . . . its a nice choice to have to make :D

been down tourque for a look a couple times when i was after my ek9 but they had none in stock,,
 
I saw your (olly ek9) location was devon, i aint ever seen any ek9's round where I live when i've been out driving. I live near Exeter, where abouts do you live? I had a look at your car mate, its smart! From what i've seen every ek9 on here is really smart and its making me want one more! :nice:

Torque seem really helpfull and said I should have a drive and a good look around the cars before I decide which I prefer so that cool.

I had my first ride in a integra type r today......

I've watched videos and heard the vtec before but my god they dont do it justice compared to being strapped into those recaros with that noise!!! :nice: Big thumbs up to that!!

I am defo going to be purchasing a Honda, just gota decide for definate whiche one either ek9 or dc2........ Still undecided.:angry2:
