Looking for advice on rebuilding my b16 want to get as much power out of it as possible I have b18 internals to go into it but want options on what cams to use intake manifold exhaust manifold what all I need to do any advice is much appreciated

Is it a b16b? Engine wise a hone of the bores if they measure in spec with new rings and bearings, head skim if needed and the valve seats and stem seals done will make a good improvement. Inlet manifold wise imo the oe ek9 manifold is good enough. Exhaust manifold and system really depends on your budget. Tegiwas manifold is great value for money or if you've got money to burn get the toda. The exhaust itself go for any 2.5 inch system. Going for a custom made set up will give you more control of sound and style.

Choice of cams is again budget and build dependant. What do you use the car for? Daily/track? Both?

Generally if you rebuild it with new oem parts it will feel like a different animal. Check compression etc.

Personally I would rebuild it and spend the money for the cams on an engine management system if you don't already have one. Fresh build and a good tune and you will see good gains.

Thanks for the quick replies lads it's a b16b what does everyone make of putting in the b18 internals

Budget bout 2 or 3 thousand euro love in around 200bhp or over or am I dreaming with them figures

3000 euro is about 2250 gbp. Id say you will be in budget for 200. Putting 18 internals in is maybe more of a question for @jesse888

I'd build the motor, stock inlet and cams then see whats left in the pot and go for s300 and tegiwa manifold and exhaust. Remember though there are bargains to be had on decent second hand parts.

B16b and b18c head are the same, just stroke it to a b18. I have b18 bottom end if interested.

Cheers Robthedoc very helpful. I have b18 crank rods and pistons want to keep the b16b bottom end just put b18 internal into the b16 bottom end tat works doesn't it

No worries bud. afaik it does work but i've never done it. The b16b block is the same as b18c I think just with different internals, so you would need b18 crank, rods and pistons. I could be wrong though. As it goes... I have a balanced b18 crank, eagle rods and acl race bearings for sale. Less than 2k miles on them if your interested?

You are both correct b18 crank rods and pistons. Using b16b pistons will be too high compression.

How you plan to build it will work.
You'll have a b18c with a b16b badge on it basically.

You can use the ek9 piston on the b18 crank and rods, this does yield a high compression ratio (around 12.5-1) but due to the relitively small amount of valve relief in the oem pistons you could be stuck for cam choices further down the road.
With a tune you could see 220hp from that setup.

This lot^ plus if you've got scope for a set of proper high comp Pistons you'd have it done the right way...

That's the plan jesse888 want to keep the b16b stamp. Thanks to all for the information very helpful

Worth noting that rebuilding a motor is going to cost you more than just buying a b18c after machining, new pumps, gaskets etc.
Plus the sale of your b16b puts more cash in your pocket to build the head up.
