B16a cam choice

one of the many reasons why i wont be going neptune for my b20 build, hardlyanybody knows what they are doing, so im probably going with Gotech :/ i went diktator before, and had no issues, ill try gotech this time round most likely.

Still waiting for the pics of the install...

My first impression thus far.....

The difference in torque is very evident. I need allot less throttle input to get going. Also Vtec is MUCH stronger. The car pulls much harder in Vtec. Oh, and I LOVE the new 'scream'.....

I hit a little snag, and due to work constraints I can only tune the week after next.

Good to hear it's making such a difference :)

These were in my car dude, in California! This is so NEAT!
Get some video going buddy! Please!

Thinking about it now, these are the perfect cams for limited tuning like you have in Cape Town.
Rock'n man!

Sorry for the loooong awaited post tune numbers and findings.....

I finally managed to get my car tuned.

I opted to fit a Uni q, based on the availability of tuners close to me. The tuner of choice was Theo Neethling.
I must admit that I am very impressed with the way he goes about things. I got there on the time agreed, and he walked over to me and introduced himself, and we chatted about my expectations. He offered some advice and before long, he took the keys from me and pulled the car onto the dyno. He did an inspection, on the oil levels, state of the plugs, verified timing, before any work was done on the car.
After he was happy, he did the first of 2 power runs to get a baseline.
He compared this to my graph from Dynotec (dated 15-10-11) and confirmed the graphs looked similar and he suggested we play around with the Vtec engagement, to which I agreed. We also agreed that as the car was holding power to the stock rev limit , we should look at shifting the limiter, so we opted to install a rev module as well.

After all was agreed, he proceeded to remove the ECU.

This is him busy installing the rev module

Once all was in the ECU was put back at the chip wired in.

Then tuning started:

After about ½ an hour, I walked away and stood outside.

About an hr later I walk back in and the are busy with 8000 - 8500 mapping. What a sound!!!!

Once he was done, we chatted further, and he advised that the sharp drop off in NM, is due to the restriction on my exhaust and or header. Which is something I suspected may be the case. Nevertheless, I am happy with Theo's work ethic, and he also addressed ALL my and concerns.

My goal for the evening was to walk away with 135kw/170nm with a decent power band.

This is what was achieved on the night.

I would like to have another power run at Dynotech to compare the pre tune and after tune against each other.

Thanks to D-bose for arranging the tune with Theo and Tweakd Out for the pics

MOST OF ALL, THANKS TAMA!!!!

Smurf after the tune and test drive (excuse the dirty car)

Cape Town EK9.org member, amazing!!!

What are your plans for exhaust and header?
With that opened up more you could pull out another few hp!

You civic looks very very nice buddy. Keep it up!

Some more pics of teh night....

That is one dam clean shop, that tells me a story all in itself; clean shops tend to be great shops with great tuners. Happy tuners are good tuners! lol

I am hoping to replace my current 57mm with a mandrel bent 63mm, and I need to get my hands on a Toda rep header with a decent collector.
