my civic b16a just cut off out the blue while i was driving it! it happened 2mins after driving away from my house! we towed it down the road and found there was no spark. the dizzy on the car had a code td-86u, i had a td-81u (off a b16a2) in the house and we tryed that on and it started 1st time but packed in the next day! will it defo be the dizzy that is gubbed or something else? the car has an earthing kit so shudnt be an earth iam thinking! its cranking over but not firing up! any ideas any1 cheers

Check the distributor leads for any breaks, spark may be jumping from a break in insulation of lead to somewhere on the engine which could cause the distributor coil to blow

i will check that tomorrow, but if the coils blown there wont be any spark will there! is there anything else i can check? i have ordered another td-86u distributor with leads so i will change them over

Check dizzy's Ignition control module (ICM).
Sometimes those modules get burn their internal electronic board, so it cannot manage high voltage from coil, --> no spark.

i just fitted a new dizzy 2day and still not working! just cranking over! i will have to look at the spark plugs i think!

it has spark, has fuel, everythings were it should! checked the timing belt hasnt slipped! still just crankin over! any ideas

I had this issue. Took nigh on a fortnight before any error codes popped up. Crank position sensor.

I tried plugs, leads, coil, rotor cap and arm, timing, fuel filter, anything I could.

Just whacked a 2nd hand dizzy in, worked after that.

That's. 2nd had dizzy I just got, its sparking but would it still spark if the ignitor chip was gubbed? Might buy another 1 and hope for the best, nothing else I can do
