heya guys, here`s a mind f*ck for ya...
i`ve spent most of today trying to work out what my new engine is (b16a1/2) and the best i can come up with is its a jdm engine and possibly has an itr head but thats about it. here`s the castings if you can help.. please do.

thats the id plate matey ^^^ just wanted to know what year it is and if its b16a1 or 2 for ordering parts ect. also knowing the power figures would be handy i guess...
 
As youve shown its a b16a, which is 160-170 depending on the year iirc. Also most of them come with a diff if not all?

Do you know what it came out of?

yeh ^^^ mines 4 digit so its jdm but i wondered if there`s a way to tell if its a1/a2??
 
A1 is a CRX engine, A2 s a uk vti. What parts exactly are you looking for?

well nothing in particular.. at the moment as im skint and iv already spent this months wages on a tanabe hyper medallion cat-back. but more for future reference really. it just puzzled me more than anything... heard rumours that if the "dohc" lettering on the rocker is bigger than the "vtec" its a b16a1 and if its the other way around like mine, its b16a2. but could be a load of crap... who knows, all i know is that the ecu thats with it is a p30, and that i was told it came from a eg vti and it was b16a2... just wanted to know if there`s a way to make sure that i got what i asked for i suppose....
 
Then youve got a 170 brake SiR engine from an SiR EG. Its not a b16a2. Its just a b16a which on paper is slightly better than the a2. The rocker lettering is a load of crap mate.
 
yep.. thought so lol, read it from a google link to some honda forum cant remember which but was much, much shitter than this one obv. ;)
