Hi,
I was wandering if somebody could help me.
I have a b16b block which I am fitting c.p high compression forged pistons 81.5mm pistons. The piston wall clearence C.P gave me was 0.003". Does that sound about right?
I was going to take it to machine shop on the weekend.
I was wandering if somebody could tell me the Honda hone specification for b16b would be. Sure I read something like 60 degree crosshatch with 240 or 280 grit. Does it need diamond hone?
What would you recommend,
Thanks in advance,
Gareth

First off, are these custom pistons or b16a ? As far as i know CP do not do off the shelf pistons for the B16B.

"The piston wall clearence C.P gave me was 0.003". Does that sound about right?" Yes .003 is fine for a NA application.

"I was wandering if somebody could tell me the Honda hone specification for b16b would be. Sure I read something like 60 degree crosshatch with 240 or 280 grit. Does it need diamond hone?" Hone to CP instructions & NO it does not need to be diamond honed. You can use either stone or diamond but diamond will give the best results (thats not to say its needed what so ever as 90% of us have our blocks stone honed with great results). Just make sure you use a good machine shop and you won't go wrong. Your everyday shop thats use to old Fords and Rovers won't be able to do what you need properly.

Gareth just make sure you go to a good machine shop like Rich777 says preferably one who has experience of Honda motors. Check who R-Motion use sure they are over your neck of the woods. thats DRMikey or Kris on here or contact them direct

Awsome! Thanks for the help guys. I was going to use an experienced machine shop up my way called hargreaves engineering which I have used them any times before for pressure testing etc. He has a good reputation round my way. Not sure if he has experience with Honda tho. He says he can do diamond hone.
I will contact DRMikey also to find out what shop they use. If it's not too far away from me, I will contact them for more info.
Thanks again for the advice
