Hi All,

I have Recently Imported an EK9 type R civic from Japan,

it has a Billion Temp gauge installed, which I only recently discovered that it also controls the fan timing and speeds, ( of which I have no idea how to set because I can’t find a set of English instructions for ) but I think the fan kicks in at 84 Degrees Celsius, when running my car, at 100km and hour, the temp sits on about 87, and when going up hill (under strain) it rises to 94 and 95 Degrees Celsius, what is a normal temp range, and what is the best way to control it, I have recently installed a custom 50mm thick all aluminium radiator to increase the volume of coolant.

Any ideas.

Cheers

The thermostat lets coolant through at 76οC and opens fully at 83οC iirc. i have seen similar values in coolant temperatures by other members. I don`t think you should keep the engine cooler than especially if you leave in a cool climate. too cold isn`t good for the engine either.

You will likely find the motor hits a sweet spot achieved at a certian temperature, for example my last eg6 was 97 degree c, it felt like an extra 20hp. I would not race until i had the motor 'up to temperature' running standard thermostat & sensors.
