b16b to turbo

yeah thats what im saying to they guy, if he was going to drop the cr by just using a gasket its gana need to be redicously thick.. Its not the way to do it at all. Do it once and do it properly. Changing the pistons is the way to do it if u want it to last..

Agreed, I'm not against using thicker head gaskets entirely, they certainly do have a place but its absolutely not on this build ;)

yeah exactly :nice: using a headgasket as a means to drop the compression by a large amount is not the best idea in my eyes. like said, low comp dished pistons is the proper way to do it, and if you want the cr even lower then something like a 1.2mm headgasket would do the trick.. ive never seen headgaskets much thicker than 2.2mm anyways

going to trade my block for a b20 whats the best manifold to keep the a/C

hi
in the near future i will put my custom turbo kit in my b16b and i will use a greddy turbo manifold with t618z greddy turbo and is a/c and p/s friently
i dont know if is the best put it will work fine. my old d15b engine with my old greddy turbo kit is work for me for more than 6 years with no any proplems

its all down to how well its tuned. and how much boost you run.. but theres less room for error when tuning a high comp engine with forced induction, say if you fill up with some dodgy fuel or you get a sudden boost spike, it wont take much to do some serious damage ie melt a piston..

first you have to low the comp. and then tune it with a PROFESIONAL tuner and you will be fine

Well there are a few companies that make ac friendly quick4 and ramhorn manifolds, i would look at those.

cant the stock rods andle 350hp. a ticker wont solve the compression problem? what is the normal compression of a stock b16b in paper is 10.8 but i have 11.8 and i dont now why just bought the engine like this from tigwa

one of the reasons for the compression to be higher wud be if the cylinder head was off and skimmed wud make a difference to the compression.

also if your going for a b20 id be inclined to go wit a b18 itr cylinder head ported and polished, youl have to drill out 1 oil gallery but other than that its handy enuf.

with a good set of cams and good intake and exhaust and propperley mapped ya shudnt be miles away from 350 bhp N/A

So you think a ported head plus cams and a tune with good intake and exhaust can give 350bhp NA? Thats crazy!!

Anyhow, no need to port the head, the money can be better spent elsewhere like making sure you get a good ball bearing turbo etc... I have seen stock port heads make 800whp!

Thats not a bad package, i would much rather prefer an OEM b18c4 or b18c crank though, eagle rods and just about any brand forged piston will be fine ross/je/arias/cp/srp/prome/wiseco/etc...

do you now were can i get a oem crank allready balanced or new at a good price?

nope, sorry, there is someone selling a crank and rods on this forum though, check the users market place...
