Any of you have any experience building a b20 vtec? i'm intersted in this setup. All motor of course :)

Thanks for your help.

what info were you looking for? its just like building any other b motor, you just cant rev as high.

Well i want a setup to rev up to 9000 rpm , JUN STAGE 3 cams.. 13... compression  can you get wiseco, jun, eagle, parts?

if you plan to rev that high i hope its going to have aftermarket sleeves. and yes i can get all those parts, i'll have to check on jun though its been a while since i got any jun parts. you dont think you'd be happier starting off with a k series motor? whats the car being used? hp goal?

The car will be used for circuit racing, and the hp goal is 210 whp +
Do you know anything about blox spec c cams? i read that they have the same Jun type 3 specs

WOW!! i was going to recomend blox cams but i thought you might not want them. i can get the blox cams for a really good price. the spec c just came out so i dont have any info on them, but im sure they are similair to jun 3's. the spec b's are really good too, weve had great results with them, you can hit 210whp on spec b's. i was considering them before i decided to turbo my car. are you going to have the block sleeved?

The setup i'm thinking of is:

b20 block
ITR crankshaft
Eagle connecting rods
Wiseco 84.5 mm 13.2 - 14.x compression pistons
Blox type c camshafts + springs + retainers.
Toda / skunk2 pro series cam gears.
Stock headgasket

I will buy the parts from you as soon as i get the block! i'll have to wait to see where i can get a good deal.

I just updated the camshafts information thread with the blox type c camshafts specs.

http://www.ek9.org/forum/showthread.php?t=137

In case you're lazy (lol) here they are:

INT 60 (240) 6.5 76 (304) 12.0 63 (252) 9.0 0.17
EXH 63 (252) 8.7 76 (304) 11.5 60 (240) 6.2 0.19

Primary, Vtec, and secondary lobes measured at .050”

Blox Racing Type C’s

I don't think i will get my block sleeved, i will talk to my mechanic. I don't plan to rev it up above 9000 RPM. Also thats why i decided to go with 84.5 pistons instead of 85 mm, just to have a reliable setup, because right now i dont know what computer i'm going to run. I don't want to go lean on the air / fuel because all i will hear will be BUMMMM lol. And of course i will not run this setup with pump gas

you will not be able to rev to 9000rpm safely without sleeves. the reliable limit of a b20vtec without sleeves is 8000, 9000 no way especially with 13 comp! if you want to hit 9000rpm on a stock block casting, use a b18c block, sure its a 1.8 but you'll be able to rev it safer. or better yet a b18c block bored and sleeved to 84mm, this way you can rev to 9k no problem with less piston side loading than a b20vtec.

as far as ecu tunning i storngly recomend this guy www.phearable.net i dont know if he ships international but its worth a shot, you tell him what mods you have and he sends you a basemap for your set up. he uses reprogrammed p28's tuned with crome pro. thats what most people do out here and they have great results, with 13 comp its best to get to a dyno though. if you want to spend serious money AEM ems is simply untouchable.

i had a friend with a similar setup, he did 220 whp rvm, he revs up to 9200 without sleeves, i dont know how tho... :)

 im assuming he has stock bore, forged pistons, forged rods, and a fully balanced crank...

does he have a block gaurd or block girdle? these 2 can be used in place of sleeves but are a cheaper less effective way to do it. im also curious as to what his compression is, and if he drives the car everyday. if he does not have a block gaurd or girdle i wish him the best of luck :)

Nope, no block guard, he told me the secret was a fully balanced ITR cranshaft + aftermarket rods + pistons. The car is not used as daily drive. He has 13.x pistons, he has like 270 psi compression :) i don't know exactly. That car is very very fast.

balanced crank is really importsant as the b20 already has vibration problems, i hope he gets more that 5000 miles out of it, 13.xx stock sleeves + 9200rpm  he has my respect. i wish him luck. 13.xx compression has such high cylinder pressure its almost like a turbo. thumbs up for playing with fire, some one has to do it first.
