hi,
i will be building my first b20vtec using 84.5mm cast high comp pistons (about 11.5-9:1 CR) with the main caps/girdle from the ukdm type R.

i have searched and read a lot about the pros and cons of the squirters found in the b18c engines. from what i can gather there seems to be alot of debate whether or not theres any benifits to having these on either b18c's or b20v engines alike.

does anybody know without geustimating if:
a) there is any benefit to my build (remember high comp, low r/s, 8500 rpm limit) by installing them?
b) if so, is it physically possible to install them? (remember crank clearance issues, if any, with a bigger stroke crankshaft and girdle fitted)
c)who can install them in the UK?
d)will this have a significant effect on the oil pressure to the internals?

please help as i want to have a reliable build and not oversee anything that might affect this.

thanks

from what i found on the net if the engine is running forged pistons there is no need for oil squirters!!! and installing them will be a disadvantage as on 9k rpm or 8k rpm with higher oil pressure the oil to the bottom of the piston becomes extra weight

Oil squirters can be found on racing engines and hondas vtec high rev engines!
Only benefits you can take from them!
Better oiling and cooling of the down side of the piston and cylinder!
The truth (for b20 vtec builds)for not having oil squirters its an disadvantage for a high reving built!
Oil film on cylinder walls can brake easily on a high rev engine ,oil squirters prevent from that happened.

One of the reasons that make me headache every time i thing of a b20 vtec built (I've got a b16a) is that 4 little things that b20 block don't have.
I wish you luck with your build!

thanks for the info, i will be running cast pistons and not forged due to cost and piston slap so without the squirters im going to be hurting me to rev the engine past 7000.. i guess a good remap should optimise everything.

how long have you ran your setup now without the squirters and whats you rev limit?

ran it for around 500 miles id say with 2 very hard trackdays lol my oil squirters were installed to start with but the rods im running didnt have the clearance and broke the ends off all 4 oil squirters so had to run these but if your running forged rods etc your engine will be sweet.
Give vtec6000 on here a pm about your problem he will have your answer lol
