Way less hassle of a K20 , plus you have a fresh engine out of it too... aye aye aye??
i totally disagree with this.
how is a kswap more hassle than sleeving a B18?

Sleeved B18cr more expensive than K20 aaall day

Really? I thought K-swaps were a £6k+ conversion, where sleeving a block is what, sub £1k plus a set of pistons/headgasket?
Yep, thats me... I dont know whats wrong with messages?
The b18 would hardly cost near what a k20 conversion would would it

I wouldnt agree with you on that mate, i think its the best way to get a broad perspective on a subject, rather than running with what your mate has or whats the trend in your area.. or what guys are brain washed into or what a certain "click" wants you to spend your money..
Im getting info, and peoples experiences from The UK, States, Ireland etc etc, so to me its exactly what the doctor orderd,
So as long as guys dont getting personally insulted by someone saying A is better than B its all good really.
Im getting great info from everyone and a bit more knowledge so im well happy. Great Forum

Be careful, brainwashing and trends are rife on forums just as they are in local circles...
It's clique, by the way.
K-swap will get you a good after markter header (if you purchase the right one ), programmable ECU with tune, new shafts, new mounts etc. Buy all those parts + sleeve it + the costs of a B18C (that you would otherwise get in return if you would sell it for a K20 and the difference is not thát big anymoreReally? sleeve your B18C block to run 85mm pistons
means with a B18C crank (stronger and shorter stroke than the B20) you can run 1978cc, so pretty much a 2L displacement
if you run closed deck sleeves it will improve the strength of the block bassively too
that is the only way i would do a 2L build, cheaper than buying an Endyn modified Dart block which is the ULTIMATE way to go 2L or more B series
I was even thinking of camming it, but could it really take the added compression without sacrificing reliability even further
Totally agree with you there Steven, however few snags im hitting with my build... reliability wise, and would probably of gone high comp, K20 route ..
My problem is finding a good quality head gasket which will last long enough.. Been through 3 so far, OEM, cometic 'phuzion' (worlds most expensive hg and lasting a mere 5 mins), and power enterprise which lasted longest (few months) - bare in mind it isnt a daily driver, just the odd weekend here or there..

...would a harmonic balancer help this head gasket out? I can physically feel a smoother running engine with it on...just dont know if it helps this out...just a thought.
Surely the extra weight of a guy in passenger seat playing a Harmonica would be disadvantage and distracting
Ever thought of a K20 swap?
A mate of mine mentioned a piston that is real cheap that drops in to the 84mm bore of b20 and raises it to itr comp ratio.. think the company is YCP?? are these crap or good pistons anyone know?
oK,
So, what would you guys think of say a b20, rsmachine pistons or ycp, to bring it up to jdm itr comp ratio or little higher?
No mad revs, just factory limiter... would it be worth a try as a cheapy build?
