Hi guys, done some searching and found very mixed views... hoping to get more clarity from here. I have just recently put BCspecIII+ cams and verniers in my B16a6 motor and chipped and tuned it. no vavetrain upgrade. im making damn good power and torque and i did some homework before hand where i was told(and read info of BC) that the stage 1 cams are fine in my motor without valve springs needed provided that i get the car tuned properly and most importantly that i do not pass the stock limiter.(8400) I have done the above and i know at least 4 others who are running the same setup as mine without hassles. what are your guys views on this?

How close are the springs from going coil bound when at full lift? For peace of mind and maybe the opportunity to make more power I would swap the springs and retainers.

What are the specs of the cams? Most likely, the answer off me will be no.

Spec 3 are not very big. Its about toda a2. I hope we are talking about buddy club and not brian crower. No way with brian crower cams.

Buddy club spec 3 has low lift near type r specs. The duration is high though which is fine for stock type R dual valve springs. Stronger valve springs are only needed when you have cams with big lift and high rpms. 8400 isnt low. But im surprised you said it makes good power with stock b16a valve springs, which are only single, not dual. Check if youve really got single springs or dual.

If the dyno graph is smooth near around 7800-8400rpm with no big drops of power, then your lucky and dont rev higher. Valve float causes big loss of power and other bad issues.

And what do you mean by 'chipped' and 'tuned it'? Did your car physically go on a dyno to be tuned? Or was it just a flashed basemap?

But in reality, running b16a single valve springs on uprated cams bigger than type R, is careless.
