Hey Guys...

Just new to the N/A game after owning many 4x4 turbos - pulsar - subaru etc..

I was just wondering what is the best aftermarket combination of mods to get N/A power from an Ek9.. eg Toda Headers - Skunk 2 Cams etc...

Also who can re-map with either hondata or Apexi PFC in the UK ?? My Ecu is Obd2b from the 2000 rx Facelift..

Cheers Guys - Andy :nice:

a few breathing mods is a good start, a quality header by Toda, Spoon or Mugen etc is proven to give good gains and coupled with a full cat back exhaust that should help again

for some major power hikes though, cams/headwork are the way forward for ek9's
skunk2 make some very good cams, at te same time though you will have to upgrade the complete valvetrain inc. valves, springs, spring retainers and also some adjustable cam pulleys for fine tuning your setup. to get the most from some higher duration cams you will have to up the CR a little more so this can be done with a head skim or also spoon and hks make thinner headgaskets that boost the CR by about 0.2 points, ek9's already use high compression pistons you see

for a greater increase in bhp and alot more torque you could always fit a stroker kit which spoon makes which replaces the crank/rods/pistons and strokes the engine from a 1.6 to a 1.8. if you want to stroke the engine to 1.8 AND fit some better cams etc you could always use the EK9 pistons with the stroker kit as they would raise the compression a fair bit!

as for tuning, Hondata is regarded as one of the best :nice:

there's loads more info in the technical area of te forum, but i hope this has helped you a bit too :woot:

Get a set of Skunk2 Stage 2 cams and if you can't affort for a toda header, get a 5Zigen (only 4-2-1 available) and a Power FC. These cams along with a very good 4-2-1 header are a perfect match because you match midrange with high - end power. On the other hand , Toda Spec B will give you the best midrange torque but not the same peak hp as Skunk2 Stage 2. Toda Spec B match with a 4-1 header which works better at high rpm. That's in general :nice:
Please take a look at the link and read the text

Thats great info cheers guys..

So where abouts would I go for a Hondata re-map ?? I live in Scotland - Uk. The spoon stroker is very tempting..

Would stroker kit - skunk 2 cams - toda manifold - de-cat - spoon n1 cat back - skunk 2 valve train - adjust cam pullys go together well ?? Would you be likely to see over 200hp ??

Cheers - Andy

where abouts in Scotland are you? i stay in Aberdeen and i should be collecting my ek9 quite soon!!

Jap performance in Ellon (just north of Aberdeen) can fit and map Hondata for you. they have a website so worth sending Simon there an email as he knows his stuff so can no doubt answer any questions regarding specs and prices for you :nice:

or if you are in Scotland you could always try Dastek, their headquarters is just south of Aberdeen

my friend had a unichip and vtec module fitted to his ek9, had vtec lowered by 200rpm and with sports cat/cat back exhaust/aem cai it made 194 bhp. he said that the unichip made such a difference, smoothed out the powerband, made driving off vtec alot better and car pulled a bit stronger throughout the range :)

If you put what you say above + an Apexi Power FC and tune them properly
be prepare to see at least 220 bhp!!! :nice:
