Best ring (Nordschleife) time for EK9

Why not...if he's experienced, the Tein but especially the semi-slicks should make a hell of a difference in cornering speed.

wow! im going there at the end of the year but watching that video im now pooing my self! lol i really hope d2 coil overs and r888's will be up for the job:nerv:
Don't be nervous, it's all about keeping other drivers in mind. If you do that, you'll be fine. Check your mirrors a lot and if someone wants to pass, then let him/her, as soon as you have a REASONABLE opportunity to give him/her the chance. Reasonable I said, so no need to move to the outside of the corner and brake like mad. If you're in the middle of a corner when someone gets behind you, just try to stay as much to the right as you can so the other can pass.

Hell, if I'm there I see company vans pass by regularly on the ring :p

ive also heard you cant take video's on the ring is this true as im thinking of getting a bumper cam fitted for it...
Officially it's not allowed....but you can do it. But if you do, please think of everyone that wants to drive there. What that means? If you record ANYTHING having to do with a crash, do NOT publish it.

yeah good point i thort they check the car over for cameras and ask you to take it out if you have one?

well im only getting 4 laps so i can gradually get abit quicker, when i was at castle coombe i was briking it but once i got going i was ok started overtaking a few things lol, i think its just the image the ring has got but i supose that image is a good thing to stop people from drivng and jepordisng other peoples saftey (motorcyclists mainly) imo i think thats a bad idea ( bikes and cars on the track at the same time that is)

I think a lot of people confuse full lap times with BTG lap times.

Add a good 15 seconds at least onto a BTG laptime.
Its also worth considering the condition of the track back in 1995-1998 against the conditions of today. Its a lot smoother in places which allows for much faster cornering speeds. Some of the braking zones are much much smoother too.

I bet Kurosawa San could knock 15 seconds off that original lap time now. He may be getting old but last time I saw his driving first hand he hasn't lost his touch!

My DC2 was extremely light, carbon seats, no rear seats, all sound proofing removed, poly bushed, braced, bigger brakes, semi slicks, Tein etc. Also bear in mind it was an empty track in August so track temps were a lot higher (more grip).

A friend of mine with a 306 Rallye with polycarb windows, LSD, AO48's, AP brakes and H+R coilovers was consistantly 15-20 seconds a lap faster than I was. He has covered well over 600 laps now compared to my few hundred.

Forget bhp figures and what Dave down the pub can do in his Turbo Civic. All of it means nothing on the ring. A good driver who knows the track can run rings round big power supercars.

I came across a tuned 911 Turbo at Pflanzgarten and pushed him all the way to the mini karussel. Anyone that knows the corner after pflanzgarten 2 knows it looks like a right hander when in fact its an easy right followed by a straight left. The moment he backed off I gain all that ground he had pulled with his massive power. Keeping the car "on the boil" is far more important than squirting down the straights with big power:D

The 911 guy was a nice chap too - only done 8 laps so it all looked the same to him:p You can't substitute track knowledge with power.

Check out my posts in the Ek9.org ring thread. A lot covered in there too.

And still I do think the Nordschleiffe is the circuit on which you profit the most from extra power. Where you can gain 2-3 seconds on an average circuit with more power, on the ring that might be 15. (still not saying power is more important than track knowledge :p )
