Quick question before I go nuts. My E-Brake light will go on when i begin to start driving sometimes, mainly when im accelerating. It goes away probably after 10-15 seconds. I thought maybe my e-brake was slightly up but its not. Has this happened to anyone else, is it a warning light for anything else?

Could be your brake fluid is a bit low, I'm not sure on civics (haven't bought one yet!) but a lot of cars use the handbrake warning light as the fluid level warning light too.

typical problem with honda's, many honda's from 88-00 will have this problem, ive seen it on accords, civics, preludes, etc...

dont wanna hijack the post. but why the hell do americans call it the e brake

thats what its called, the emergency brake, or hand brake as well..but thank you for all your info..going to check the fluid as soon as i can. :)

sounds like that is what extacly wrong with your light. The fluid light is on when you shift the low liquid around. Thus the sensor in the resevouir picks it up and triggers the light. no big deal just top it off to Max and call it a day!

Wouldn't say call it a day. He'll need to check his system for leaks and check his pads arent worn theres obviously a reason for it going down.

well, yeah but he said only when he accelerates and after 10 ~ 15 sec. if goes away. If it were the brakes you will hear them squick, due to the metal clip that rubs on the disc. The only for sure thing would be a leak in his system, but everytime he will press on the pedal, for sure the fluid will flow out of that leak rapidly......
well, hopefully he found the problem and fix it above everything else!

Thank you all that gave me some insight on the problem.. I started with the easiest and worked my way..pretty much my brake fluid was on minimum, tapped it off and no light yet. I did check my pads and rotors and everything is fine in that category. So thank you for all the info, this will stop me from going nuts for a lil while longer.

Mine has been doing this now, brake fluid is ok & brakes are ok, so maybe an electrical fault :(
