i have been browsing over the internet looking for a replacement tire, the Bridgestone Potenza RE01 that came with my CTR is pretty worn down past the indicators & it seems from the choices as well as budget constraints the RE001 looks like a good alternative to the more expensive RE01.

has anybody tried this tire yet? i have read the reviews & watched the test videos but i want feedback from the people that have actually used them & not just from paid journalists & test drivers.

your inputs would be greatly appreciated. :nice:

I've got them on my car, although I haven't been able to do much hard driving in them, when cornering, it gives me more confidence with the feel and grip, steering response also accurate and fast. Thats about all for now...

That tire has a lot of grip, can you check the price differences between re001 and re070 ? the re070 is better, maybe the price gap is not that much :)

i use re-01r's and falken azenis for my street tires. they give GREAT confidence.

hmm, RE001 is cheaper and did shave 2 SECS off the Bridgestone Control tyre around the track. RE070 came out like nearly 4 years ago. I don't know which is better though.

the control tire is a Potenza S03 Pole Position which is at the time BS's flagship tire, i think the RE001 is a new flagship tire of BS in it's intended class, just below that of the RE01.

anyway i did get the RE001 & sent it to my brother & he had it installed by another tire dealer, he went back to the twisties last wednesday going only easy on the uphill to scrub in the tires. on the downhill (wet) he felt the RE001 almost had the same grip as our previous tire (RE01) but that's only with a hundred kms scrubbed in.

a few hundred more kms we'll see how it does when i go back there & test it myself, this time there will be a video, i promise. :D

:nice: thats a promise... :nice:

Good to hear more comments on this tyre. It's code RE001 suggests that it's good with the 001 like RE01

what are the RE001's retailing at lads???
and the RE01's????

price difference??

i have falken ziex at the moment and dont trust them at all in the wet:angry:

well the re010 are on mytyres.co.uk for about £65 a corner not fitted. but cant find a retailer at the mo for the re001

RE001 is cheaper... and should be best all round dry and wet. I got mine for about AUD180 195/55/15

Apparently 195/50/15 is cheaper at AUD140-150

i was originally looking for a 205/50-15 but it was an extra $20 over the 195/55-15, i think that is too much for such a small difference in specifications.

where can you get these re001's as i can find re010's and i can get them for 125 for 2 but curious as to what the re001 would cost? which of the two tyres would last longer, cheers guys

ive got 2 RE01 for sale if anyones interested, both have 4mm tread, size is 195/50/15

ehh.. where did u get tat price bro? i m from KL as well..

looking for a set of re001 myself to replace my worned F1.

i m currently on 195/55/15. if placing a 205/55/15 on my current 15" OEM EK9 Rims, will there be any effect?? slower? heavier? affecting the speedo in anyway? higher FC??

thanks :)

Yes ofcourse it does. The tyre is bigger.

If you go 205 then you need 205/50/15. But be worned that it could touch the inner chassis on full lock because of the offsets on the stock wheels. It did to mine, I changed back to 195/55/15
