Not too sure if u guys know this or not but our old ecu ( p08, p28,p30 ... etc)
tends to leak it's dielectrics from it;s capacitors. This will actually burn a hold in the circuit board and even the ecu metal case..

http://www.zerotohundred.com/newfor...onda-civic-eg-ek-must-read-p30-c27-burned.jpg

after reading this i quickly opened my ecu and to my horror... MY ECU LOOKED JUST LIKE IT!!....

so i send my ecu to some electronic/electrical guy to have all the caps replaced.and the electrician "repaired" the burned board. this only cost me a measealy rm25 compared to if i had replace the ecu which will be rm600 ( rm3.5 to UDS 1) .

so pls chk your ecu TODAY!!

i`d say BULL!!! I know at least 20 eg6`s, and 20 more cars running obd1 ecu`s and noone ever had a similar problem. This guy is only trying to terrify people to make some money in the name of prevention.

It was more than likley caused by a spike, arched out the + battery terminal that's not a gradual thing looks like it's just popped, the ecu case isn't thick so it won't take alot to burn through it

It ain't bull.... those "oil" filled capacitors have a rubber "cork" which in time will deteorate and will leak. Maybe in my country which is HOT all year round contributed to this but .. My ecu had 2 of the capacitors leaked...

so it;'s just my advice too you all the chk your ecu.

My country is hot as well. summer temp rises up to 43 degrees celcious and haven`t heard anyone report something similar.

We have to be careful our ECU's dont freeze over in the UK, I only wish it was hot enough to burn capacitors.
