Hi guys been a member for a while.

I was gonna buy an EK9 but i also had to buy a house so put it off and bought a Renault Sport Clio 172, whilst its a very capable car its still not a 9.

What are the pro's and cons to ownership of a 9 over the 172>?

Also what are you guys getting MPG wise? Also how many owners are in Glasgow area, id really love to see one up close if anyone would be as so kind lol!:nice:

Regards guys!!!

well ek9 is better looking, handels better, better build quality, faster than the 172 and the ek will out live the clio. have you had many electrical faults with the clio? an auto electricion i know advised me to stay well clear of them after manifactures warrante had expired.

sorry to disrespect your car but everyone knows french made cars are poor quality,
anyone that disagrees with me should try working on them every day!

get your self an ek9 and you wont look back.

I had a 172 mk2 (Headwork/cams/ecu blah blah) car before last, I had it for four trouble free years before somebody wrote it off for me. Standard for standard the handling is very close, EK9 is better though. The seating position in the clio is poor compared to the 9. Driven in anger round a circuit not a lot in it, the 172 is a very capable car. The 9 attracts a lot more attention and for me is a more special place to be, the clio cannot beat the vtec soundtrack.
The major difference on the road in my opinion is 'road presence' - the clio has none, most average people cant tell the difference between a 1.2 & the 2.0, I found other drivers wouldnt move over in the clio, where as in the EK9 they do :D

yes i must admit i was quite intimidated having an EK9 behind me, until i put my foot down:D:D

up for brands track day in August?

Very valid points here, i dont have to convince myself over the relaibility front on french cars, i know all about it (C2 GT, Saxo VTS then the 172) So im no stranger...

One of the reasons i bought the 172 was as stated above, people think its some piss 1.2 8v effort until you floor it, any way thats another story.

Can someone confirm roughly what a Ek9 will do to 60mph?

Always much debate on this, mileage, age etc, but I would say 6.5 secs ish!
Tmus! What date and with who m8? Having trouble deciding what days to do atm :D

Regardless what it is i suppose anything sub 7 seconds is ridicolous for any 1600cc lol

Before i had my civic jordan i had a 106 gti with 165bhp and had cams, ecu, manifold, exhaust and filter and did a 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and a quarter mile of 14.5 seconds, it was good fun and didint give me any problems over 3 years my Jordan and now EK9 are sooo much better cars.

i`m in glasgow mate, could meet up and get a gander if you want ? lol:nice:

my mate has a 172 and has had nothing but bother. engine mounts, centre section of the exhaust, but he still wont admit jap cars are better! you need to drive an ek9 to really appreciate how good they actually are!

He's just too car proud, theres no doubt about the fact that French cars are renowned for poor build quality, still i bought it because whilst its still piss poor built its still fair rapid against alot of un-suspecting "hot-hatches"...

GAV that would be spot on mate, id really appreciate it if its not too big an ask! Ive only ever seen them passing and never got to appreciate it upclose!
