Cam belt position Sensors

Hey guys,

I have an EK4,

and I have recently done a small service on it, taking out the engine, changing the clutch etc. I am plugging it all back in and the spark plugs will not spark,

The engine turns over the spark plugs do not spark, however there is voltage going to the distributor, as far as I can tell, there is no signal being sent to the ignition coil.

I was under the impression that I haven't plug in one of the sensors, or it may be broken, What sensor would this be, and where could it be found?

Pictures would be a HUGE help,

I haven't plugged it into a Computer, and don't think I can anytime soon,

is it important that I have them to find the problem? I'm trying to avoid going to a mechanic at all costs !

How do you know there's no signal going to the coil? Coils are one of a few things that are known to cause problems in B-series engines... Can you borrow a whole dizzy of someone and try it maybe?

Seems like you went about the clutch replacement in a very long winded way!

What did you touch when the engine was out, did you change the cambelt? have you plugged the distributor in, and are you sure you have the right sequence for the spark plugs? IE cylinder 1 goes to the number 1 on the distributor?

When Jimbo mentions "CEL" he is reffering to a flashing engine light on your dash which will flash a certain number of times which will correlate to a specific problem.

Yes, Yes I did hahaha, However I know a lot more about my engine now Which I think in the long term will end up helping.

However I removed the Dizzy cap, and my brother and I have put volts through the Ignition coil, but it's not receiving anything, I think it's because the Distributor cap broke, and water must have got in and Shorted it.

I'll let you know how I get on,

On that note does anyone know of any sites where they do "cheap" (being the operative word) replacement parts for delivery in the UK for EK4's (imports)
