Can make more power on OBd2 than Obd0 question??

I have this lad I know locally who has recently had a B20 built by DNR to go in his crx. Its a well spec'd up engine and he had the final tune completed the other day in which it made 243bhp...not bad and seems expected from the spec.

I have seen him claim on FB lately thought that it would have been more like 260bhp if he was running obd2 not obd0...

Now can anyone shed some light on this? as initially it sounds like utter BS to me. Because how can the difference in diagnostics port have anything to do with 17 more hp. It has been mapped (not sure on what software) so surely the optimum fuel to air mixture will have been achieved????

thanks

ali.

i always get confused with ecu names, but isnt a 0bd2 the facelift one? if so i dont think these can be mapped , i could be wrong , send vtec6000 a pm or im sure he might see this and comment , he will know more

Nah you can't map obd2, that's why people do obd1 conversions.
Perhaps he means if he had used something such as Hondata, instead of something such as Crome?

You get mor resolution in the map between obd0 and obd1 so he might gain a little but not 20hp.

Mind you from his comments he obviosly has no idea. Why would you want to convert to obd2 when obd1 is more supported.
