hi, im just wondering how i can get my chasis a little stronger.im currently using EJ99, b16a engine.so far i have stabilizer bar, front anti roll bar, rear bar(inside trunk).no rear antiroll bar. but when i drive the car, it feels wobbly. as u know Malaysian roads are ****!!!!!!!!!no further comments on that. how could i do it to make it durable so when i drove my car it could withstand any uneven road.could it be my absorber that cause the problem?

Stiff chassis will drive harsher on bumpy roads, are you sure this is what you want?

You can stiffen the chassis be doing a few things:
-add bracing like strut tower braces, lower arm braces, fender braces
-seam weld the chassis
-add a roll cage

You can also stiffen the suspension:
-Sway bars
-Stiffer springs an shocks
-Stiffer bushings

i thought that before...but if stiff will make it worst and what will make my ride as like a normal car?car feels really wobbly if i went on uneven road. but if u go into hway its ok. maybe i need to check all bushings.i think there are some tear ones...

I'd think that checking the bushings all round would be a worth while check.

can anyone out there have a list of what kind of bushing and where they are located on my car Honda civic EJ9 year 1999. with this i could check it by myself. i have plenty of time with my baby on sundays....

appreciate it...

thanks

Do you think maybe you are simply expecting too much from the car? Please list every suspension/chassis mod you have in detail, what springs/shocks/spring rates, thickness of anti roll bars etc...

Bumpy roads need high ride height and soft springrates and damping, it's a whole different set of requirements to smooth road/track setups so the large majority of what you look at won't be suitable as that is what most Honda parts are geared towards. It wont look 'mad tite JDM y0' but I think a tarmac rally setup might be more down your street if it's performance you're after.

Check out some of the kit here: Honda Civic EK4 Race and Rally Parts from eg6ek4ep3.com, it's expensive but it's going to cost you if you want to make it work well.

check your alignment of your wheels like the toe, caster, camber etc. that might be the reason why it wobbly... :)

if the roads are as bad as you say they are then a basic ej9 civic will feel wobly imo you should just grin and bare it, the bushes only need changing when they are very badly split or have become delaminated from the unit and have play in them and to be honest the honda oem bushes are genrally good quality ive only ever changed rear trailing arm bushes on hardly a had full of hondas/rovers, check bush condition and wheel alignment by all means......

my mechanic said the same thing.oem is enough already.no need to get expensive aftermarket. i know the car is getting old, what i want to do is to fix it as new as i can.i like to bring along with my frenz, but if the car is fully load, they cry for discomfort.so it embarrassed me...
appreciate all ur comments, i try to make sure all bushings are in good condition...

i heard about autofoam(inject foam into car chasis). is this good?

If this is the case, then making the thing stiffer is the last thing you want to do. Grin and bear it, or buy a 4x4.

As for injecting foam into the chassis, never heard of it, and can't see what it would achieve. If I'm thinking rigidity, foam is not what springs to mind...

Anti gravity foam, lifts the car in the air and allows one to float over the pot holes.

never heard of this?it inject the foam into chassis, the foam will harden after a few days...so it hardens the chassis.it looks like a a very hard sponge but light in weight...
