Thinking about buying a varis carbon bonnet for my ek the seller says the laquer is dulling on it but he has been told it will buff up again. I know nothing about carbon bonnets just looking to know can the laquer can be buffed up on them or has it had its day.

Once the laquer has gone, it's gone and the varis bonnets with with a gel coating on them, but can be flattened down and re-done.

I had my bonnet re-laquered and couldn't believe how well it came up! Cost me £80.00 which was well worth it imo.

Mine was pretty dead aswell.

I also got mine re-lacquered, far better job and leaves it like new :woot:

Cheers for the info. Here's a pic of the bonnet in the ad not great so I can't tell the extent of the dullness. I've to phone the seller tomorrow he has it in the shed and can't remember how faded it is. Least I can use it as a bargaining tool. Would any good painter be able to laquer a carbon bonnet.

Yea any decent painter could bring it back to life depending on condition.

I got my spoon spoiler redone over a year ago and looked great, seems its starting to go bit dull again thou, joys of carbon !

Do you have a rotary or DA machine polisher?

Flat back with micromesh(2400,3600) compound, polish then wax.

Friend is a detailer does all top end cars so very good with a machine etc. he wreckons as long as its not flaking he can sort it.
It's a steal so I can't refuse it.

Yeah like I said above dude, I do a lot of refinishing and detailing, the above method for carbon clouding works wonders.

Tryed that myself but had to leave in in for a new clear coat in the end.

Worth a try Dee getting it buffed by a friend as you say.

Cheers for the feedback. Picking it up on Sunday. Another trip into the south.
