just looking to see if anyone knows a cheaper option for an intake pipe rather than having to buy one of the spoon elbows or carbon fibre/kevlon pipes?

has anyone tried to do anything else?

really don't want to spend £80+ on a small piece of tubing :nono:
which its all it is at the end if the day

are you trying to say we are stupid for buying spoon elbow haha jus jokin im sure this av been talked about before jus look through.

Just get a custom made one with stainless or aluminium tube 3" in diameter. Join them with silicone hoses.
My intake was done like this with a BPI funnel with a big K&N...dyno tested to be far better than any short ram, OEMboxes or anything like that. It cost be around 50 quid to get the pipes done.

i agree this is the best set up for winder/cold weather.
in summer you'll get heatsoak :((

my j's intake performs great on cold months but when it begins hotter you can feel the difference compared to itr box.

mugen intake is the best intake imo it uses 2 velocity stacks and a big filter also with cai feed this with a 3'' heat wraped pipe is the best but still cost $$ is craaaazy :nono:

you wanna get sum 102mm spiral flexi duct. we use it for the ac at work. on my non facelift, run it from the left side of you radiator grille in your bumper. up infront of the wheel arch and throught the similar sized hole in your chassis, straight into the front of your air filter. mine came with just a cone, and this made a difference, only whilst moving though, for obvious reasons. you can also make yourself a heatshield. (did you get the banzai with the 2 egs on the cover over 2oo brake, thats where the idea is from)
give it a bash!!!

I don't know about heat soak but the air movement during off idle is able to maintain a cooler intake air.
Temp outside for me is 30-32, intake temperature in heavy traffic ~ 40 max, when it's moving drop to 33-35, then when you are going at some speed it is atmos temp...so much better than >50 for OEM.

hey guys

do you know if the pipe going from the air box to the rest of the intake is 45 degrees?
so is the spoon or tegiwa elbow 45 degrees mainly?

if so, ill just get a piece of 3" pipe off ebay and stick it in

that'll be cheap :D

i got my 3inch pipe
and got to work :)

started with this

it was too long so i had to cut it using a hacksaw, which took a while

temporarily using this little rubber thing i found to wedge the pipe in place and stop it from knocking on the strut wall

and i also used an old k&n air feed and inserted it right into the bottom of the standard box

and voilà, completed in just about 45 mins, not bad and looks so much tider than having a pipe and filter which i had before, looked way too chavvy, boo!!

now im happy
