clock issue!!

k guy i got one of these installed in my car

and my problem is, like say it says 12:55 when i shut the car off...i can come back one hour, or a day, or even a week later and turn the key on and it will be at 12:55...so it has constant power to keep and at that time while its off but it wont continue counting when off....but when key is one it will keep track off time just fine...is it just a faulty clock or is there something i;m missing?

That is a strange one. Id try swapping a known good clock with yours and see does it work ok, really it cant be anything else but the clock thats faulty...
