Clutch pedal feel?

Hi everyone. I have an exedy stage one clutch and have been having issues with it.

My question is when I press down on the clutch pedal roughly the first inch of travel is very soft with little resistance . It then all of a sudden gets heavier for the rest of the pedal travel. So is this normal? Am I only noticing this because the previous clutch was soft all the way.

I have been have problems with judder and slipping with exedy

Have you checked your clutch fluid level or tried to bleed the clutch?
 
If you have judder and slip and a dodgy pedal then it's possible that the bolts that hold the pressure plate on have come loose just slightly,

The torque setting for these bolts is pretty low, I usually torque to factory spec and use loctite to be safe
 
I had the clutch fitted not long a go and it was brand new. Has been juddering since installation and is very annoying lol. I'm not sure if loctite was used
