Need help guys! The clutch pedal on my ek9 has lost all feel and only engages at the very bottom when i press it down and its really hard to go into gears. Something like this happened to a previous car I had and turned out the clutch slave cylinder was gone and leaked fluid out.

But I just checked it on my 9 and it seems ok, any ideas? Would no fluid in the transmission cause something like this? Thanks.

no fluid in the transmission(gearbox) would cause gear engagement troubles. Cruching etc.

It sounds like typically the clutch is wearing on its last legs dude.

If the master cylinder isnt leaking then sounds like the clutch.

If your master cylinder had gone then you would struggle to get it into gear, thats if you could get it into gear at all.

I don't think its the clutch as didn't experience any slipping or anything.

Now I can barely get into gear as there is basically nothing left in the clutch pedal.
I'm trying to drain the gearbox at the moment but can't get the damn nuts off cause they're so tight?

Btw should it be easy to push in the slave cylinder? as its really hard at the mo...

its either the master or slave.look on top o pedal where master is bolted to bulk head and see if you see fluid.have you pulled back the rubber around the slave to see if its leaking

ok i've checked the gearbox and there's plenty of fluid left, the slave isn't leaking from what i can see. this all happened within about an hour of driving. I'll have a look at the master cylinder now if i can find it...

Ok just had a look at the master cylinder where the pedal is and there seems to be a little bit of fluid leaking out, does this mean its shot? Is it a big job to replace? Cause it looks hard! :(

its a bit fiddly cos youve to lie in to the car in a horrible position to unbolt it,strains the back a bit.if youre handy and have patience youll manage it.i did one about amonth ago, takes the guts of an hour to remove,re fit and bleed...including tea and fags!

I can see it under the dash but can't see it under the engine which I think is gonna be the hard part! Any tips? Or anyone in dublin wanna help me out? :)

Ah I actually see it. It actually doesn't look too hard... Is there any specialist tools I need?

I don't suppose there's a temporary fix till i drive to the garage eh? Rep added shooter ;)

hhmmm.....i had the same problem a year ago....its hard to get into gears and sometimes got stock on gears, coz the clutch dont work.....well i don't know if the problem is the same, but mine some part of the clutch broke and circling around the flywheel...everytime i clutch, that thing prevent the flywheel to spin....until to the point that the clutch don't work, coz the piece of metal got stock on the holes of the flywheel.......i read a post on another forum about the same problem and the spring of his clutch broke....so u have to check the clutch...and you might find the problem...
