Clutch thickness

Hey guys,
does anyone have a new clutch lying around? I need to know what the thickness of a new clutch disc is, trying to determine whether to use the best of the clutches I have home or buy a new one. Cheers!

I would put a new one in as I've had a few honda clutches fail with plenty of material left.

Seems quite common that the springs become worn funny and become loose and start to rattle around, leaving free play in the centre of the friction plate..

Cox's motor parts (honda dealer) seem about the cheapest for oem dc2 clutches

Yeah, in an ideal world where money is no object I'd also put a new on in :D I have 3 clutches here (one I haven't seen yet, one is toast and one which I think is good - but need to confirm that!) and if one of them is over 70% thickness I would use it, as the money can then be used elsewhere. Thanks for the info on Cox's, never seen the website before, very handy! :nice:

I know what you're saying. I had two spare clutches here that were working fine when removed but neither were perfect as the friction plate springs were a bit loose and worn allowing the centre to move about.

I couldn't make up my mind which one was better or if I trusted either to last long term, they both may of been fine or they could of destroyed them self in no time

On my old ek9 one of the springs came out started binding up in the pressure plate.

Also when I had my dc2 one of the tabs that holds the thick part to the pressure plate broke and allowed the thick steel ring to go off centre and out of balance.

I'm not trying to say don't use the second hand clutch but do throughly inspect every last little bit of it

Sure, I've learned the hard way that trying to save money can cost you a lot more in the long run. Equally my budget is limited and I don't want to ditch a perfectly usable clutch.

Bump, anyone can measure a new clutch late for me pls?

Have one here but no accurate way to measure it! Any ideas? You obvously are measuring from surface to the rivot?

Just the overall thickness would do TBH, I can work out the rest. Do you have calipers at hand by any chance?

No problem mate, thanks for offering to help! Also, you should get some calipers, digital ones are less than £10 and a VERY useful tool to have!

This may help as a very rough guide. Well worn exedy on the right, brand new ITR clutch on the left.
