hi guys,

i went out in the car sunday when we had a massive downpour, and i mean mega! i had also just filled the tank with new petrol, same as always v power.

but that night when i started it, it dropped down to about 300-500 rpm and sounded like it was about to cut out, so i touched the gas pedal and it came back to life and then was fine.
from warm it starts up fine, and when its running its fine.

do you think something may have got wet, like the 02 sensor? its only from cold start, and if i give it abit of throttle its fine again, im confused because it had never done anything like that before?

cheers

Lloyd

nothing to do with downpour. IAC Valve might need cleaning if it continues.

ill try and get a video up as it is not going away, itll make more sense then. it really smells of petrol when its sat at idle too, way more than it ever has.

if anyones had any similar problems please do tell, its bloody annoying as before that day nothing felt wrong with the car :(

Idle issues is one of the most difficult troubleshooting problems on the b series. Very difficult to assess your problems with the infomation provided.

another bit of info, once the cars warmed up, when i pull up to lights or to a stop, the idle seems to drop lower than it used to before?

from doing abit of research it could be down to the IACV, the main relay, the 02 sensor or the coils? does any of them sound about right?

Double check or change tour tps sensor and clean your iacv

thanks, i will give these a try! i will try all the free options before i start buying random parts!

another bit of info if it helps, the car really smells of petrol at idle, and does produce abit of white/grey smoke at idle, its definately petrol fumes and not oil.
but funnily enough ive been getting better mpg for the last couple of tanks of petrol??

im going to check the IACV and the main relay first as they are easy, then if that does not work i will change the 02 sensor as ive recently fitted a new exhaust which may have killed it, then i will check the TPS, map sensor and distributer.

can anyone think of anything else? someones had to have had the same problem at some point.. i hope.
