Im soon going to be rebuilding my b16a2 as its gone abit smokey and want to freshen the engine up. I have the intention of also installing ek9 pistons and getting the head skimmed 10thousands or so. Question is what will be compression be as i cant figure out how to work it out. Will i also have any issues running big cams clearance wise etc with this setup?

You have to be careful. First hone the cylinders and check the pistons rings gap for the type r pistons. For the comp. If you put your timing right and use 93 oct or higher you are fine. I was running my b18 ls-vtec with 13:5.1 comp at 93 pump gas and big cams. I make 243hp N/A... Why you shaving the head? The engine got over heating or something?
But one again... dont worry with the head shave to 10k and a OEM head gasket you shud be in the 11: pushing 12:1 comp.

I was advised to get it done as it helps to bump the compression up whilst still allowing the use of an oem headgasket. I need a cr of just above 12:1 in order to get the best results out of the cams i intend to use.

What cams are you planning on using? V2v and p2v clearances could be a problem if you don't measure them.

I think those pistons may have a negative deck clearance on the B16A, so the piston will protrude out of the bore slightly. Careful with that.

I don't think you need CR that high to run those cams do you? I know it's a different engine but they work well on H22s with stock bottom ends at 11:1

Yeah from researching it ive found out that the piston protrudes 0.017 of an inch above the block... i assume this is an important issue that cant be ignored. I always assumed a cr of around 12:1 is needed for those cams to work best? Maybe im wrong
