Right guys, I have a feeling at least one person on here will be able to help me.

I have a Xbox 360 and it used to work absolutely fine. Now my old Modem / Router broke and we replaced it with a second hand one(Exact Same). Works fine:nice:. I can get my Xbox to speak to the router hard wired but not through my wireless network. I know zilch about setting up computers but can use them OK. I now have been trying a lot of crap like adding in the Basic settings etc. They will not talk and i cannot keep my Xbox hard wired as it is in my room.

If it wasn't for living with my parents i can guarantee this would have been in the front garden about a month ago.:angry2::angry2::angry2:

Please help

I'd say theres some type of firewall on the router blocking it from connecting with xbox.

try contacting xbox mate

Have you turned all the firewall settings off and alowing other things to connect to your computer?

have a look at the firewall setting on the router, might be worth having a play, maybe switch it off (at your own risk ofc) and make sure port fowarding it enabled too

IIRC there is a specific port that needs to be enabled but im not sure of this.

Finally found the firewall and it says it is allowing all gaming activity, I hate this

oh mate i cant stand it when i cant get live to work!! I just ran a really long cable to mine from the pc to my room when i lived at home lol!

I cant because it would be constant nagging as my sisters sight isn't very good so she would trip over it.

Have you put the security network number into the xbox? if you havent then it wont connect at all. its the really long number on the back. also try to clear the cache (guide button, settings, memory, select Hard drive, press Y, then XX LB RB XX then press A) if that dont work phone up your ISP and they should be able to help you.

I shall give it a bash.

Cheers For all the fast replies guys:nice:

Right i have the thing that you can try if all else fails

I have tried thuis on my computer but would not recommend it :L

Just turn both on, try to connect, then go kick both them very hard and see if it works

Worth a shot :L

May end up needing to buy a new one :L

Just phone a local computer guy or anyone you know close to see if they can fix it?

I now mines was an actual arse when i first setup live, just wouldnt connect, my mate spent ages doing it

you have to ring your internet service provider, they then give you all the address you have to enter them in the settings menu. i did it ages ago, it took ages, but its really worth it! falling that get some power Ethernet connectors that work via electricity!

The most annoying part is when i first put my xbox in it just worked. This is why im so confussed now:nono:

Just going to have to phone them

Cheers, Marc
