So im looking at getting an ek9 in the next few weeks, id arranged to go see a fresh import at Distinctive cars in York on saturday but unfortunately the car was not ready, so instead i took a drive to WRC sales in keighley, to have a look at the 2000 Yellow EK9, with 52,000, the car was priced a 7995, so was out of my budget but was worth a look. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this car, seems to be the only yellow one for sale in Britain, was tuned with exhaust, manifold, intake and lots of other various bits, but the car had no mats, no parcel shelf, a ding in the rear bumper and a shitty front number plate drilled to the side of the car? which put me off, the car was also registered with a number plate does this mean the new owner would not be the first british owner?

Just thought id see what anyone thought?

also has anyone delt with D-C-York as im going there tonight to see the car i was supposed to see on saturday, its a white 1998 one with 59000, at 6600.
Ive had a look through Blinxs car guide but whats the most important thing to look at when buying a fresh import?

cheers

Scott

Scot,

i'd have a word with Dunk on here!...

I've been to WRC but wasn't impressed with there cars. let us know how you got on at D-C-Y.

and if a car already has a number plate on it means its been registered and you would be the 'first' uk owner. as a log book will already have been produced in the sellers name! and thus you will be the second owner in the uk. hope that helps!

yeah the next step is to ask Dunc, as i can see nearly everyone who uses him seems happy, ill check out this one tonight as ive been told D-C-Y is a very good company but if im not satisified ill ask Dunc, does he source his cars in himself from Japan, and how long does it take to get a car shipped and ready?

I was just going to say WRC is in bradford not keighley, but i have just looked on their site and they now have a garage there. When i bought my old starlet gt i got it from the WRC in bradford and the lads there were spot on, and i know a lot of people who bought cars from there with no problems. But personally i would never buy a car from any of the garages in keighley as i have heard so many bad stories about them all especially Keighley trade centre.

yeah WRC Bradford/Keighley are the same company, as ive also heard bad things about keighley car centre! yeah the lads seemed fine and were quite helpfull, they also offered me a good price part ex on my car but would not budge the price of 7995, :(

The Yellow RX at DYC has been there for a very long time, my friend went to look at the cars there are there is something wrong with all of them and they are over priced. Listen to everyone on here and use Dunx or one of the other recommended importers.

ek9 chris are you sure you dont mean WRC? because ive heard nothing but praise of
D-C-Y in York? they sell alot of ek9s and dont even have a yellow one in stock? whereas WRC i agree with the negative comments as 7995 is well overpriced for a 10 year old car thats not in 100% condition even if it is the only yellow one for sale in England

Ahh you may well be right 24shaw, he went to a lot of places and I may be getting mixed up, probably shouldn't post based on second hand knowledge!

Was getting worried for a second there, if anyones had any problems with Distinctive Cars York please let me know!

I know of 1 person who had a very bad experience with DCY, one of the owners of japnortheast spent £27k on a r33 le mans skyline gtr which blew up 2 days after he bought it. It was suppesed to have been mapped for uk fuel but had not, and there were a lot of parts that were advertised which weren't on the car. You have your good experiences and bad experiences with every importer no matter how good they are, it is impossible to get cars that are mint everytime there is always going to be one that breaks. It is just luck of the draw weather or not it is you.

I'm gonna say go with type-r-dunk on the forum here mate, never heard a bad word about him or his cars & after meeting him can say he's a good bloke too.

Got mine through Torque GT in devon as I'd never heard a bad word about em, was impressed too. But all the reaserch i did on other importers only showed up bad stories as far as i could see... much like the WRC/Keighley stories above...

well i wont be getting that ek9, turned up at distinctive cars expecting a bog standard nice ek9 with low mileage, yet it wasnt to be this time, the car had a couple of dents, a wooden steering wheel? a manky hks filter, no blue car stamp! i wont go on, but it wasnt for me! the guy seemed very nice and the team cars were gorgous, but when he offered me just 1400 for my 02 saxo vtr i felt like abit of a mug.

Now im thinking the yellow ek9 at WRC seems like a great car even for 1400quid more!

SB-Performance what happens when the car arives and the customer isnt impressed with the car?thats all im scared about! plus the wait! i dont think i could handle the wait!:angry2:

I bought my 2002 dc5 from distinctive cars in york a few years ago (pre ordered )and it was a mint grade 5 and A interia I was happy with it ,but my honest opionion is that there stock cars they buy are of a much lower grade and are a bit rough for some reason and they are a bit over priced

I have heard off the dc5 forum that andy of 200bhpcars.com is good he has imported loads a tegs ,and he only charges a fee to import the car and prep it he does not add personal profit to the price of bringing it in .

What would be the reason you wouldn't be impressed? If you mean the car is misdescribed from our description, we would arrange for those problems to be fixed, but have never had that problem. Remember, most importers dont even know what condition a car is prior to purchasing and a lot simply look at a number...we do this, plus we actually inspect the cars at auction so we know EXACTLY what we are getting. After a car is purchased, we then take the car to our garage in Tokyo and fully inspect the car and take plenty of pics, with details. Also, if we get a car available from one of our contacts, we get a full appraisal with plenty of pics, but they rarely get EK9's.

Jurgen does get some nice cars in, many of those cars are also offered to us as we have similar contacts.
