Hey guys,

I have a ek3 D15Z6 and going to swap over a D16Y8 intake manifold..

Was just wondering who has done the same as this or know of someone who has done this?
What are the positives and is there any negatives etc? Doubt there will be much gains but anyone know much performance gains roughly?

Cheers :)

Alrite man! Im unsure of the diffence of the inlet mani swap from D15 to D16 tbh mate, however I know there is a decent difference from the D14. I've got one in the house just waiting to swap it over, there is a lot to consider though, although the job itself isn't that hard if you know what your doing :nice:

On page 4 of this there is a walkthrough for a D14 should help :)

I know its roughly a straight swap, just afew fiddly bits. The key with Ek3's is they have economy mode, thats part of my intake so that will need to go unfortunately, i just hope my fuel wont be too bad. Just curious though if its worth the swap.
Thats alright, i'm getting someone to fit mines, im a bit of a noob so i'd probs break something lol.

Cheers! :)

Know of this. The Y8 IM is one of the best gains to a d-series as the others are so restrictive. Mind you will also need the TB (sidewards) and a new air intake. Great reason to get an AEM V2 or similar.

I think Skunk2 also do d series IM, not too sure if it's a copy of the Y8 as for the B series, the Skunk2 IM is very similar to the ITR IM.

Ah thank you, more tempted to fit the Y8 now but not sure :p
Haha even better as i already have a aem V2 fitted :woot:

Skunk2 IM's are about £300 odd i think, too expensive for a D15 :/

Cheers! :D

New intake manifold and AEM CAI...what ECU are you tuning this with?

When you start to add on items like intake and other items like exhaust and such; you will need to change how much fuel and oxygen your engine is using, more than likely you would need to add fuel to the air/fuel mixture.

If you do not start to adjust the air/fuel mix you risk running "lean" [or "rich"] as you add on items as you are talking about. Running too lean will cause detonation and possible damage to your engine.

Look at Hondata as one option of many out there, to help, but you will need a tuner to set it up and tune your engine. A tuner can recommend a ECU that they prefer to use, might be a better route to take.

Ahhhh didn't know, learn something new everyday :D
Thanks for the info, i'll have a look into it :)

But i think i'll need a new ecu as my one is none tunable, im so skint as well lol
