Anyone have info on what needs replaced to do this conversion?

Mates engine has gone and the only easily accessable engine is a B16. I assume the following is required:

Engine, gearbox, loom & ECU.

Does it need a driveshaft change?

yes mate pretty sure it has to be B-series shafts, may be wrong tho

Yes you do need all the driveshafts from the B series, they will fit directly in to your hubs. You will also need the shift linkage.

It is also advisable to get the radiator.

cheers folks, mate was hoping for a quick fix! This doesnt sound quick and cheap for an option :((

You can pick up D series engines cheap as chips. Pretty straight forward swap D for D, swaping D to B isn't all that difficult.

Also forgot to mention, for the B swap he will need the rear engine mount and the side "2 post" mount from the cambelt side of the engine. The mounts bolted to the bay can all be reused.

For a d series to d series surely the ecu and loom needs to be changed? We are looking for a d16y7 but its proving difficult! Not many d16y engines for sale! :((

what year is the civic on, and its not that much of a expensive job to convert

No your loom will be ok as long as your car is vtec already. Yea you will need the ecu for the b16. Really isnt a difficult swap.
