Hi Guys,

Anyone have experience with these coilovers from d2??

website: http://d2racingsports.com.au/index.html

I'm really considering these - they look great and not heard any bad reviews or news about them.

Prices are really decent on them too.

the only problem with d2's and ksports, is that they can leak, if you hit alot of pot holes/ wear and tear

dont waste your money, better solution is omnipower
D2,Ksport,SpecR,Rtek are the same **** made in taiwan with diferent colors, all plp i know they had them after a while start leaking

Have you ever heard of PIC performance? Much better than your standard k-sport, omni power, and d2 coilover for little exta money. Some of the main difference is in the way its adjusted (8 easily to keep track of settings), the spring (cold wound), and the smoothness of the internal damper wall, these last an amazingly long time compared to D2's ect.. which are prone to leak after some miles. I have some PIC selects 10k front, 8k rear, check them out-

I'm pretty sure that many of these coilovers, like k-sport, omni, D2, and PIC have parts that are made in the same building in taiwan (do you really think JDM companies like Tein make everything in Japan?). Aluminum hard parts like lock rings, threads, top/bottom mounts can be milled in the same shape because it doesnt really matter so much (even though PIC uses a different aluminum alloy). That is where the similarities between pic and the others stop, because it has completely different internals that are virtually leakless, a unique needle valve design thats easy to track the adjustments made and with different damper oil than the others, and a completely different cold wound spring made from japanese steel. Hot wound springs, though cheaper and easier to make, dont maintain the same inherent strength and longevity because of the intense heat used to wind them. PIC lets you choose spring rates from 6kg/mm to 18kg/mm based on your application. Even the coatings on PIC's are different than the others. PIC's are extensively race race and street tested on US roads (admittedly harsher than Jap. roads) before being approved for each application, as this is a company based upon racing.
And yes, my opinions are biased to PIC but that is because I did a buttload of research on this and got the suspension that I felt was by far the best for the money (there is better of course, but not for the $1000 that I spent.)

ksport/D2 = suck!

One of my friends has D2's on his CB7, he was very happy with them until 1 damper blew after only a year of street driving. He has gotten a free replacement but it never should have happend in the first place.

Nice, whats the retail price of this?

Like Dino mentioned, I have heard as well that they are all made in Tawain - possibly same building/shack. Omni power???? Was that a serious suggestion? Thats the last thing I would buy, they just SEEM cheap. You guys should really look into KW suspension if you're looking for some performance - German coilovers which means good ****.

tein is really made in japan though... one of the only ones but they are made in japan.

almost all companies make their stuff in cheap countries ,but at least some of them make some research and developement before proceed in the production those Ksport/D2 are just bad copies.

about omni i know lot of plp using them without any problems.a friend of mine has it in his car for about 2 years and my bro for 1.5years.

Cheers for the advice guys - i guess its back to the drawing board - its trying to find a supplier of decent coilover kits here :(

I looked into the KW dut they look really good - fairly decent prices too, but i cant find a supplier :( - is that what you have got???

I looked at koni! wasnt too sure on what to buy - i'm not an expert mechanic so thats why i wanted to buy something thats fully built i can just swap for the standard stuff!

My budget is about £600 for a full suspension set up - i thought that was pretty decent untill i started seeing some of the prices.

I have D2 coilover's, back arms and rear camber adjusters and I have to say I find them very very good. The roads round here are brutal and they havent give me any trouble at all.

I found them better than tein etc because you can adjust the ride height without adjusting the spring rate, plus there's 36 damping adjustments on them. I wouldnt say they are cheap crap. I've had them on the track, the good roads, the bad roads and Irish back roads and have no complaints. Plus the no questions asked warrenty is fair good too.

A few of my friends have them fitted too with no problems

and they look good to when people are behind you :nice:
