Decat my ek9?

Hi people just want some advice im thinkin about decattin my 9 got a 5zigen exhaust and jasma manifold onit already. Basically i want it poppin :) but this fella i know has a saxo decated and its too bloody loud lol and i dont want it ridiculosly loud has anyone put a decat on their 9? Is it too loud? And i want to get it remapped aswell :) dont really understand the remaps , someone said to me its the ecu they change? If so wots the best one for ek9?
 
I've got two decats for sale, a proper decat and a resonated one which is basically a silencer instead of the cat.
I see your close to me aswel. I'm from Swanley. If you wanted to fit one then see if its too loud your welcome to pop down and well fit it then.
Worth adding I put my resonated decat on In place of my proper decat and it dropped the exhaust noise over 8db

haven't De-cated my 9 yet, will be doing soon though. but every car I have had I De-cat and in my experience its more the note changes not really a huge noise difference... and yes much more popping lol. I would advice it all my cars have sound sweet once there De-cat.
Obviously just make sure you can get it through MOT when the time comes...

Proper decat is better for me as I have the res one fitted atm
 
Yeah that sounds good think i will defo do it . My friend said it improves the power? And yeah ive got the mot sorted ;)
 
My car came with this decat on already but cars I've decattes in the past (s2000) it gave vtec a better pull and just felt better.
If you don't like it we can take it off no worries.

Yeah sweet mate wot about induction kits which ones are better the ones that come down to the front bumper or just the normal ones thatsit under the bonnet ?

Enclosed kits are usually the best.
From what I've heard the top 3 are
Mugen
Dc2(I have this one)
Or comptech icebox I think.

Yeah cos ive been offered one that comes down to the front bumper for 130 and my mate said there better cos it gets more cold air down there :s u know much about remaps?

Is the filter down ther or is it enclosed in a box with a pipe going to front bumper like the stock setup?
Problem with the filter ones is that you run the risk of sucking up water which will kill your engine fast, also a lot of dirt and **** down ther.
 
The proper decat has just been sold fella but I've still got the resonated one if you want to try that maybe in a weeks time?
 
Yeah the filters down there and shitt yeahh didnt think about that . Nah tho il prob get 1 online cheers tho
 
I would go with the standard DC2 induction kit. And not advisable for everyone coz I don't take my decat off but I just took it down to a exhaust place and get a little bit of pipe welded on :)

look at the first three numbers of the JASMA number and then click on the link I provided in the previous post-that should tell you, but it probably is 5zigen.
