So the 'ol systems been bugging me a bit recently, the backbox is needing to be repacked again too! (chunks of melted glass), figured I'd like to take it on tracks next years too, possibly compete with it. The noise limit really put a stop to that over the past two years Ive run this setup so I figured I really need to quieten it down wiithout killing performance.... AND fix a crack on the downpipe. If your wondering why the downpipe is that colour, its all 304 stainless but the downpipe/mani was supplied by a reputable american company, american steel for that part. Rest of the pipe is UK sourced and the same age.

So, in comes 2x 18" resonators 4" OD. its made a nice difference, alot deeper on idle and quieter, sounds alot more production now under acceleration (not as wild) and best thing of all you can talk to your passengers at 3000rpm-5000rpm without having to shout anymore. lol. Just need to get some suitable packing for the backbox and gut it/repack then itll be civil enough for the track. Turbo whistle isnt rediculously loud now either! which is a good and back thing, although that sound is addictive.

Can you see the discolouration on the Vband inlet! ...and the big crack after it!

Looking good mate..dont often see many people wanting to make their car quieter but i guess that straight trough item must have been deadly loud :)

Thanks, all in the name of progress. Its a daily driven car a 2x years of that has surely "WHAT"?..NOT been good for my eardrums. Very glad I found time to work on my own car for a change. Its very reliable though so thats massive plus

It sounded so mean... as the soundwaves bashed the life out of your eardrums lol. Its done good for 31,5k+ miles of daily abuse. On high boost temperatures peak at almost 700*C when your winding it out in 5th and then holding it there maintaining top speed.

The new silencers are 3" ID 4" OD. no restriction there.

Theres a back box to the system that isnt pictured too.

Hey Will, nice tidy job on fitting those resonators, have they effected spool time at all? Think I need to get one of those resonators for my scooby

no diffference at all. theyre still 3" straight through in the middle. About a year back I tested the difference on a R33 GTT that had a straightthrough setup like mine, after adding one it lost almost one hp. Id expect these to lose me 3-4 total at an estimate. Theyre VIBRANT brand. 'true-straight-through' design.

Looking good, Will.
Nice neat boxes.
I might need one of those if my system turns out to be annoyingly loud.

Been thinking about buying a few in tbh. need to assess demand. Its alot of hassle to buy just a couple in at a time with the way Vibrant work and their courier
