So the 'ol systems been bugging me a bit recently, the backbox is needing to be repacked again too! (chunks of melted glass), figured I'd like to take it on tracks next years too, possibly compete with it. The noise limit really put a stop to that over the past two years Ive run this setup so I figured I really need to quieten it down wiithout killing performance.... AND fix a crack on the downpipe. If your wondering why the downpipe is that colour, its all 304 stainless but the downpipe/mani was supplied by a reputable american company, american steel for that part. Rest of the pipe is UK sourced and the same age.
So, in comes 2x 18" resonators 4" OD. its made a nice difference, alot deeper on idle and quieter, sounds alot more production now under acceleration (not as wild) and best thing of all you can talk to your passengers at 3000rpm-5000rpm without having to shout anymore. lol. Just need to get some suitable packing for the backbox and gut it/repack then itll be civil enough for the track. Turbo whistle isnt rediculously loud now either! which is a good and back thing, although that sound is addictive.
Stock system removed:
Can you see the discolouration on the Vband inlet! ...and the big crack after it!
Chip Chop
Couple of pics after....
Nice bright white light to work in...
