Wife was out in the civic when a transit drove into the back of her at a roundabout....that old chestnut..I bet he thought she wasn't going to stop.
Bumper took the force and is now bowing out each side by the lower 1/4 panels and has scrapes and chips.

His fault so will go through insurance for repair..

Being an old car I hope it doesn't get written off?

Quite a lot of insurance companies will just prefer to write off old cars......

If they try to, just say you don't want to and you'll sort it yourself. No point taking a 9 off the road just for the sake of a bumper

i had to write a very long email proving how much my car was worth after they tried giving me £600 to write it off, most companies seem to do anything to not pay out so stand your ground if they do come back with a price to write it off.

I won my case and got the car fixed which was only a broken headlight! I think insurance companies expect everyone to give in

What shape civic is it? probably just a case of new bumper if straight into back hopefully it won't get written off :)

EM1 vti with 83k miles, full history etc. As good as it gets W reg

Try to get it written off and then buy it back, that way you'll get the most out of it!

Do they give you what it would cost to buy an identical car? All the ones available are over 100k miles and modded and still 2-2.5k. What would that put mine at? Just had new brakes, new Goodyears, cambrlt, water pump etc. Got all tax disks and mot's from new too. Finding a comparable would be impossible

they honestly dont care lad theyll throw a couple of pound at ye like your at 40 pound a nite hoar and expect you to take it

Hopefully they'll repair it. If not I will buy it back

Guy at my gym had a RS4 worth 21k. They offered him 13k for it. So expect some absolutely stupid offer. He said they kept phoning with slowly increasing numbers untill he got what he paid for. Even when they say it's the best we can do he said bollocks and they came back with what he wanted. Just mention that you are in no rust to get the money so you don't care how long It takes to get what it's worth or to get the right amount to fix it!

Will do

Spoke to the incident management company and they say that the car is down for salvage already and it hasn't even been assessed yet lol. Talk about jumping the gun

First offer.....£907! Wow, I didn't know it was worth so much!! Valuation tennis begins
