I must ask what is DTec?
Same as vtec but for a diesel engine? In which case still vtec??

DTEC sounds like a knock off version of VTEC.

Obviously VTEC is the best for daily and occasional pedal to the metal fun - hence why so many of us are addicted to it. Don't see anyone raving about DTEC...

im no expert but I don't really think D-Tec is the diesel version of vtec. I have tried to look this up many of times but Honda has kept the info very secretive for some reason

A good d-tec would be an ideal daily. But doubt you would get much fun out of it unless you plan on spending a bit of cash. Apparently can see some good gains from the 2.2 engine. Are you on about the older fn shape civic sport?

The 2.2 diesel was quite cutting edge in its manufacture, but its a bit wanky by european diesel standards and thirsty. My twin turbo diesel is the future of diesels as it gives the power without the tiny usable rev range.

Even more gas savers than what they already are

I have an 06 2.2 CDTi Civic. It isn't fun to drive, but it is nippy

I was thinking of going for a 2009 model with low mileage in black or blue colour.

This is a bit of a pointless topic on an EK9 Type-R forum, where most own EK9's or other Honda's using the VTEC system... If we loved diesels we would all have diesels.

Plus I wouldn't have a Honda diesel if I was to buy one. I'd have a Merc C Class or E Class, possibly a BMW 330D or 335D.

No just trying to make up my mind cos every time I go into one I say yes this one then I see the other one and I'm all confused again he he :) the problem is my country's road license for petrol cars with relatively high emissions are too fricken high example an ep3's license goes up to 535 and an fn2 (type r) goes up to 737 euros. Quite steep for my pockets unfortunately

I see, now I understand why you're asking. That is expensive.

Personally I have no experience with the diesels so I'm no help really :)

Quite steep hehe. Really I think its a form of a legalised robbery. Anyways still thanks for your input :)

With a small rev range, tractor like sound (no matter how quiet), very linear power curve. Its never going to be as fun as vtec.....
