Hello everyone, i bought a ej9 recently with had the engine taken out for a b16 swap. the b16 was never put in so i took on the job of putting the 1.4 back in, i now have everything back in but im not getting a spark. i put in a new distributor and have checked over everything i can think of ( fuses, grounds, etc)the fuel pumps primes and there are no unusual warning lights. im absoulotely lost now. the engine turns over everytime put never got any near starting it. any help is really appreciated thanks

are all the plugs on the loom etc definitely plugged in? sounds stupid but easily overlooked. also have you checked all the under bonnet relays n fuses?

yes i have, when i get time im going to try and check over all the loom but im nearly sure i have everything connected

Double check your fuses in the engine bay. Someone else had the same issue and it was a blown fuse. Dizzy plugged double check all connectors

Maybe if you looked over everything open the dizzy and try a known working coil pack?!

Check for inertia switch on passenger side up behind the glovebox in the upper left.
Drop glove box, drop down past pins to stop it falling to far, roundy square rubber topped thing bolted to the centre console. If you have it , just press the button and try to start the car again. The switch sould look someting like this :

What is this??

It's a switch to shutoff the engine in a colision , also if there is a short ( when you plug the battery back in the car after some time ) the switch turn off the ignition/fuel pump.
If you don't find it behind the glove box compartment like in the picture below check the other location in picture 2
