EJ9 problems

My EJ9 failed the NCT (The Irish equivalent to the MOT) on emissions. The previous owner has told me its a sensor, in the catalytic converter, that needs replacing. I didn't know there was one :p I did replace a lambada sensor, for the manifold, in my old car before and that worked out. So can you please tell me if this is true or false? The previous owner is a bit unsure of himself, so this is why I'm asking in the first place haha.

It also needs trailing arm bushings. Is there anything I should look out for that might have caused the bushings to fail?

When I turn, there's a clicking sound. He said its the CV joint, so he has provided a replacement driveshaft. Would this solve the issue?

What would be the estimated cost of parts I need? The ones that have been mentioned of course.

I'm not the brightest when it comes to the workings of a car :p Please help and thanks in advance.

Clicking when turning is usually a CV joint so a new driveshaft should fix that yes. Bushes will just perish over time, if they're original they're well due being replaced. As for the emissions - not sure how many sensors are on EJ9 as never had one, I'm sure someone will chip in!

Facelift EJ9's have 2 lambda's, one in teh manifold and one in the cat, prefacelift has just one in the manifold. Everything else is what @oifovo said :)

That makes life easier. Thanks guys :)

Yes, its a 2000 Civic.

Bushes mean it has been handbraked silly on food trays at Mcdonalds carpark!

Nah, completely normal, I have to do mine on my daily EK3 before it's next MOT as well. They start to deteriorate with age since there always flexing due to the nature of their design.

Yeh the EJ9's have a sensor on the Cat, Should solve the problem. Just make there is a Cat on it.

CV joint is a good start to getting to the bottom of the clicking.
