Hey guys, finally decided to start up a build thread of my EK4. Nothing special but would be great to hear feedback from others and always happy for people to throw any ideas my way :)

So to start off with, here's the spec of the day i bought her:

150K miles
weitec coilovers,
majority of suspension components have been polybushed,
a pretty nasty looking B pipe with some equally as bad welds throughout it with a spoon n1 rep silencer,
apexi air filter,
go faster holes in the front bumper too!

Not the greatest spec out there but i have known of the car for quite a long period of time and friends with one of the previous owners and know how well the engine performs.

Here's a couple pics of when i got it.

Very happy with it. Made very good power going by a previous dyno print i found with some of the history.

The shell isn't in the best condition as it has its fair share of dents, and i have come to find that getting panels in this particular color is proving very difficult indeed so once the funds are all in order, i shall repair and spray the existing ones.

Since buying, i have added a few bits i have built up to give it my own touch. may not be to everyone's taste but hey lol. i have added the following:

Toyo R1R tyres,
tegiwa canards,
2.25" exhaust with a custom fit oem DC5 back box, (tight fit but works fine)
a cheapy intake but better than the apexi as it was damaged and filthy,
kode dished steering wheel.

I was fairly happy with everything untill today when i went outside and discovered this.....

not happy at all. only cleaned it a couple hours ago, went to get in to pop to the shop and noticed it. :( currently looking for someone to replace it for me.

lastly, heres a pic of how she used to look back when my friend owned it and before all the nice parts were removed.

cheers guys!!!

Looking good in the red colour :-D
Good luck on your build :)
Carsten
Thanks dude. Wasn't too sure of the colour at first but it really has grown on me.

Also, great news!! Windscreen has been replaced

Going to have a play with the exhaust this evening to try and get it to stop blowing and tapping on something.

had a first attempt at a template for my splitter today. need to take a few more measurements and work out exactly how im going to mount it but im happy with the first stage.

not completely sure what i am going to make it from yet either. seen many different materials used, most popular being either ply wood or sheet ally. most likely going to go with ply to keep costs down but if anyone has a good suggestion to help me out, feel free to comment. help is always welcome :)

Great build, thanks for sharing :)

Well, now iv finally had a spare moment when the weather has been a bit clear, i decided to make a start on my splitter.......then it rained :( . still, i managed to obtain the abilities of one of my buddies to give me a hand and a second opinion in what to do.
Decided on using 12mm thick ply wood and am also in the process of making up my own steel brackets that will bolt up to the front towing points.

so far so good. need to seal and paint the wood over the weekend and hopefully have everything sorted and any adjustments made by next weekend! Here's how it currently stands, the shape changed a it from the original template i made....

made use of the nice weather today! got the splitter painted and began to make up the brackets!!

will be on within the next few days. Trying to do 1001 jobs around working so things are taking longer to get done.

got the brackets made up today!!!!!!! fairly happy with them, should do the job. just need to drill out the top whole a bit bigger and will bolt them on.

gave the old girl a bit of a clean up aswell. wash, quick clay bar and a bit of polish. didnt come up too bad at all...

excuse the semi naked selfie..

was also given one of these EK GARAGE stickers from a mate so slapped that on aswell..

weather is looking pretty poop for tomorrow so ill bolt the splitter up on friday in time for this weekends shows!!!!

Looks good in that red mate! Looking forward to seeing how the splitter turns out. :nice:

GREAT NEWS!!!

splitter is finally on!! had some good feedback from others who were keen to see how it turned out and also some advice of what to do next.

all was fine on the drive up and back to southwest autosport on the weekend apart from a small hole in my top rad hose :( had to make a slight pit stop at the bottom of a slip road and do a quick insulation tape bodge to get me home but apart from that it was all fine.
