I have a trans out of an ek4 sir with an LSD(s4c) and was just wondering what is the difference between this and the s4c in the type r,is it just the final drive or is it more???????

same gearing, fd and lsd, not sure if synchros etc same but simple cross reference of part numbers will confirm that

ok ok let's haul this one back in for a second.
The ek9 LSD is helical while the ek4 with optional is vicious which isn't nearly as aggressive/efficient.
The final drive, though having the same overall ratio, is physically larger in the ek9. It is the same sizs as the ITR and GSR's.
However, i am still unsure whether the boxes use the same gears and synchros. Someone please answer this query if you have the correct info.

the eudm ek4 isn't equipped with an lsd. Still i was under the impression that all jdm ek4 versions had one

Are you 100% sure on that?? I always thought they both share the same LSD. I could be wrong though!

Not to sure what you mean by this?????

EDIT

The transmission found in the Civic Type R is highly sought after and very rare. Its gear ratio's are identical to that of the B16A's but has a stronger limited slip and dual synchro's in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears.

S4C spec:-

1st: 3.230
2nd: 2.105
3rd: 1.458
4th: 1.107
5th: 0.848
Reverse: 3.000
Final Drive: 4.400

Got this info from hear

I googled this and got the exact same info Jimbob,i think the difference in the diff's one being viscous and the other being hellical could be correct though

Yes, the ek9's LSD will not fit directly into the ek4's gearbox unless you install an EK9/DC2/GSR Final drive at the same time. This is why there are B16A specific final drive kits.
