Having a bit of a problem with my civic atm, finally getting it back on the road after 6 months or so and I took it for MOT on Saturday morning and it drove fine all the way there 20 miles or so,

Then whilst it was sat there running on the ramp it cut out on it's own, I tried to start it up straight away and it just turned over and spluttered a bit, left it for 10 mins and it fired straight up!?

Set off home after the mot, got about 10 miles down the road and pulling up to a roundabout in busy traffic it cut out again! Pushed it out of the traffic left it for 10 mins and it fired straight up again, this happend 3 or 4 times more on the rest of the way home!?

I've thought of the obviousy like IACV but this would only affect cold idle right?
It does seem to be when warm, ordered a new fuel filter from honda this morning too. It's worth mentioning the dizzy cap and rotor arm are brand new from Honda a week ago!

Any help with this one chaps?

Dale.

I had the same problem after leaving the car over winter and it was a faulty dizzy.
I used my brothers dizzy to check it and it ran fine.
Im still trying to find a new dizzy.:angry2: lol.

Cheers
dufffy

Thanks man, I'll try that. If anyone has a 2 Dizzys we can have please :)

could be a faulty crank sensor? crank sensors tend to brake up when hot but when the engine cools the work again. could be a possibility.

Yeah it's a possibility, it only takes about 5-10 minutes to start again so the engine is still really warm but then it gets me about another 3 mile before it dies again,

Can you start it when hot by feathering the throttle?

Havnt really tried the above ^ didn't wanna risk flooding the engine, just left it each time for 5 mins and it fired first time

Try that, if it starts with throttle slightly open it could be a problem with IACV otherwise most likely dizzy if it won't start.

Ok mate cheers will do, I've just bought a second hand dizzy to try aswell, will post up how I get on.

Dale, i've been having the same sort of trouble, i've just changed the dizzy today and its now spot on :) good luck with yours

Ah great, sounds promising then, new dizzy should be here tomorrow so time will tell :)

Thanks everyone!

I doubt the new he means is the new you mean Tama, you'd need a gold bar for a brand new Dizzy I'd of thought! I could be wrong.

I have this same problem with my car it shutdown with me at the traffic lights it would start but when you go to move off it will shut back down get up in the morning start it and it would drive fine i haven't get around to change the dizzy but i hope that solves my problem to
